AirAsia celebrates commencement of Kuala Lumpur – Goa direct flights

Kuala Lumpur, 3 September 2015 – AirAsia, the world’s best low cost airline for seven consecutive years marked the commencement of its thrice weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Goa, India today with a celebratory event in Kuala Lumpur.

AirAsia announced promotional base fares from as low as RM12* one way in conjunction with the celebration. These promotional fares can be booked from now till 6 th September 2015 for the travel period from 7 th September until 30th November 2015, available on airasia.com as well as AirAsia’s mobile app on iPhone and Android devices and the mobile site mobile.airasia.com.

The commencement of this new route, which saw the inaugural flight taking off on 27th August, signifies AirAsia’s second new route into India for 2015, following the launch and commencement of Kuala Lumpur-Visakhapatnam earlier this year. This also marks the eighth direct flight connecting Malaysia and India after Kolkata, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

“Goa is a destination very close to my heart, as my father had Goan roots. But above that, Goa itself is an amazing place to visit and AirAsia is proud to be the only airline that connects Kuala Lumpur directly to Goa, India; making this the sixth unique route we’ve introduced in 2015 itself. Our commitment is to provide the best connectivity for everyone across the region and the introduction of this unique route signifies that commitment,” said Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia.

“Furthermore, it will now be much more convenient for travellers to visit India with the introduction of e-Tourist Visa on Arrival for 113 nationals including Malaysians. We welcome this move as it will definitely encourage more people to choose India as their travel destination,” he added.

As part of AirAsia’s continuous effort to enhance connectivity into India, flight frequencies from Kuala Lumpur to Kochi has also been increased from 10 times weekly to 14 times weekly effective 19 November 2015.
