    Firefly celebrated its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Sibu Airport on the 1st of July 2011. Local journalists gathered as early as 5.30 a.m at KLIA for flight FY660 to carry them off at 7.30 a.m to Sibu. When we arrived in Sibu at 9.15 a.m., we were grandly received by Sarawak Tourism Board’s CEO, Datuk Rashid Khan; Firefly’s Managing Director, Dato’ Eddy Leong; including the President of the United Chinese Association of Sibu, Datuk Lau Nai Hoh.

    To encourage Malaysian citizens and residents to travel domestically and learn more about the country’s own tourism offerings, Gaya Travel Magazine, in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, kicked off the programme called Kembara Cuti-cuti 1Malaysia (KCC1M) with the trip to Perak, from the 14th until the 17th of October 2011 and followed by Pahang, which was from the 11th to the 14th of November 2011.

Though highly accessible, Negeri Sembilan tends to be overlooked by travellers from north heading southwards and vice versa of Peninsular Malaysia using the North South Highway (PLUS).
