Etihad Airways, Alitalia and the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur recently brought world-renowned musicians Mauro Maur and Francoise De Clossey to Malaysia to celebrate the Occasion of Italy’s Presidency to the European Union.
The duo performed The Great Music of Italian Cinema for an audience of more than 450 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s Plenary Theatre. The exclusive, invitation-only event was attended by diplomats, the business community and prominent members of Malaysian society.
Mauro Maur is widely recognised as one of the world’s most accomplished trumpet players, with a repertoire extending from the great baroque concertos, to the classics, contemporaries and the great music of cinema. Since forming a duet with pianist Francoise De Clossey in 2003, the pair has enjoyed wide international acclaim.
Italian Ambassador to Malaysia Mario Sammartino said: “We are pleased to have brought Mauro Maur and Francoise De Clossey to Kuala Lumpur and, through the medium of music, brought a little piece of Italy to Malaysia.”
Mr Sammartino also thanked partner airlines Etihad Airways and Alitalia for supporting the musical duo’s flights and for providing them with a seamless travel experience from Venice to Kuala Lumpur.
