KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – May 2, 2012 – Makan Kitchen, the signature Malaysian restaurant at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpurwill be hosting two Ramadhan cooking classes on July 7 and 14 to welcome the holy month for Muslims all over the world. Entitled “Masakan Selera Ramadhan Bersama Chef Fazli and Chef Zul”, the cooking classes are priced at RM69++ per person, inclusive of high tea and are limited to only 15 guests per class.

It will be conducted by Makan Kitchen’s Executive Junior Sous Chef, Fazli Baharudin and Malay Sous Chef, Mohd Zulkarnean.  Both chefs are masters of Malay gastronomy delights with more than 15 years experience under their belts and have strong passion for the cuisine.  Six different recipes will be introduced across two classes with three dishes per class. Both sessions will begin at 12.30pm and will take approximately two hours and this will be followed by a high tea serving over 60 Malaysian classic favourites until 4pm.

Guests will get the chance to learn how to cook some of the favourite Ramadhan dishes through interactive and personalized sessions.

The three dishes that will be taught during the first class on July 7 are ‘Sup Tulang Rawan berempah’, thick and spicy beef rib broth with herb and spices, ‘Ikan Keli Masak Cili Api’ which is the smoked cat fish cookie in spicy turmeric and coconut cream and also the famous ‘Bubur Lambuk Ayam’, rice porridge cooked with minced chicken with spices and coconut milk. The session on July 14 will include dishes like ‘Percik Ayam Panggang’, grilled marinated chicken with herb and spices, ‘Kari Kepala Ikan’ which is slow cooked fish head curry with okra, tomatoes and brinjal and ‘Bubur Lambuk Daging’ rice porridge cooked with minced beef with spices and coconut milk.
