Kuala Lumpur, 25 November 2013Lufthansa will commence its non-stop flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt (the most extensive network in Europe) five times a week beginning 30 March 2014 using modern Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, as opposed to the current four times weekly flight via Bangkok.

“Lufthansa has the greatest network within Europe and with the current promotional fares and our new non-stop flight from Kuala Lumpur to Frankfurt starting 30 March 2014, our Malaysian customers can explore Europe at great value for money. Be it a trip to Rome to experience its many cultural and culinary highlights or romantic excursion to Paris, Europe has many highlights to offer,” said Mr. Paurus Nekoo, General Manager Lufthansa Malaysia.

He further added that Lufthansa intends to sell Europe to Malaysians, with Frankfurt as the gateway. Since Germany is Malaysia’s largest trading partner in Europe, Lufthansa considers Malaysia as an important market and Kuala Lumpur as one of the main hubs in Asia that attracts many other airlines. The implementation of the direct flight is timely since it coincides with Visit Malaysia Year 2014.

According to Mr. Christian Altman, Regional Director Lufthansa South East Asia, the non-stop flight is part of Lufthansa’s current service extensions and flight schedule measures within South East Asia, where the German airline will increase its seat capacity. “With our new flight we are extending the offer to our customers in South East Asia by 27% compared to the same period last year and will thus grow next year at an above average rate in this part of Asia,” he said.

In conjunction with the direct flight, Lufthansa is now offering promotional rates from as low as RM2,888 for Economy Class and RM10,500 for Business Class to 50 top European destinations, bookable until 8 December 2013.
