Medan, Indonesia, 14 February 2012 – Indonesian travellers can now access a greater selection of Malaysian travel packages on Tourism Malaysia’s website and for the very first time, buy the packages online directly with the introduction of a SOTA widget on the website.
SOTA is an online travel platform, developed and owned by Creative Advances Technology Sdn Bhd (CAT) that enables travel operators to easily publish and sell their products and packages online. It currently used by over 1,500 travel agents and hotels across 46 countries with close to 3,000 travel packages offered on its platform, of which over 1,000 are Malaysian travel packages.
Tourism Malaysia has recently signed an agreement with SOTA to promote Malaysian travel packages offered through SOTA’s platform on its website. Through SOTA, Tourism Malaysia’s website will get an on-going stream of content in terms of travel and hotel packages and offer e-commerce capabilities for the travel packages.
With an aim to drive inbound travellers from Indonesia, a presentation of SOTA was given to a group of travel agents in Medan, Indonesia in an initiative spearheaded by Malaysia’s tourism board in Medan.

With the incorporation of the SOTA widget on Tourism Malaysia’s website, travellers to Malaysia will not only be able to view a large variety of Malaysian travel and hotel packages online but will also be able to make enquiries to the travel agents and buy the packages through the website directly.
Apart from Tourism Malaysia’s website, travel packages on SOTA’s platform are also promoted on a myriad of websites including South East Asia official website, Visit-Indonesia.com.my, IMT-GT official website, VirtualMalaysia.com and SOTA.travel.
