Boustead Holdings Berhad and Ikano Pte. Ltd. announced on 12 May 2015 in Kuala Lumpur that MyTOWN Shopping Centre, a 1.1 million square-feet lifestyle shopping destination, will open its doors by the end of 2016. MyTOWN promises to inject new life and economic activity into the communities of Cheras, Ampang and beyond.
As a prelude to its opening next year, MyTOWN’s media launch today presented a glimpse of an exciting retail destination that will create thousands of jobs and become an integral part of the greater Klang Valley community. MyTOWN’s General Manager, Kenny Chin, is confident that MyTOWN will stand out from the pack in Kuala Lumpur’s competitive retail market.
“This is not just another mall,” Chin told the media at the shopping centre’s site office today. “Our shopping centre will be home to the largest IKEA store in the country with seamless connectivity. We will have a Parkson Department Store and five floors of retail space – everything from fashion and home furnishings to a wide range of food, beverage and entertainment. We have a landscaped park and a sunken garden outside, event spaces inside, an alfresco dining terrace and a dedicated zone for children that even includes a play area. MyTOWN is set to be the best one-stop shopping destination in this area and a community meeting place for family and friends.”
The shopping centre is strategically located on Jalan Cochrane, with the potential to reach more than five million shoppers within a 30-minute drive. Architects and planners have made the journey to the shopping centre as convenient as possible, ensuring direct links to both major highways and public transportation.A soon-to-be-constructed flyover will provide a direct link from Maju Expressway (MEX) into a multi-levelcarpark with 6,500 spaces – far more parking spaces than required for a shopping centre this size. Once the MRT system is completed in 2017, shoppers will be able to walk from the Cochrane Underground MRT Station directly into MyTOWN’s basement level via a tunnel.
