With too many things to eat in Kuala Lumpur, on one evening, for the first time ever I was unsure of where to eat for lunch. Then I remembered an offer made by a friend of mine, Danielle, who happened to be the PR Manager for Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur, to dine at the property’s outlet, T@STE6 Restaurant and check out its newly reinvented menu.

I must say that I found the new menu full of gastronomic treat. For starters, Danielle suggested that I try the Mushroom Dish, a true Italian cuisine. But as I took my first bite, I truly understand the direction of their new menu: Asian-fusion.

The chef has added chili flake into the mushroom dish in giving it an Asian twist and to titillate the taste bud. Next came fresh from the kitchen was the Salmon Nicoise with

Lemon Vinaigrette, which was mild and refreshing with minimal acidity. The dish remarkably whetted my appetite.

By the time I was done with the salmon, my tummy had already prepped up for the chef’s specialty: Chicken Gordon Blue with Risotto. The chicken was downright tender and crispy, which beautifully complemented the risotto, thus render the whole dish wholesome and flavourful.

Not enough with just one main course, Danielle further decided that I should try the Spaghetti Aglo Olio ala Asian.

When the dish arrived, I was expecting clichéd Italian pasta dish coated with oily base sauce. Boy, I was wrong! The first bite gave me a punch of reality because it was bursting with Italian and Asian flavours – the secret lies in the use of bird’s eye chilli and fresh water prawn.

The chef later told me that he also played with coriander to infuse the oil with the fragrance of fresh leaves to clash it with the bird’s eye chilli. I have only one word to describe the dish: brilliant! By the time I was done with my meal, I had already started planning for my second (and even third) visit to T@ASTE 6!
