Petaling Jaya, June 19, 2013 – Thistle Port Dickson has taken an unprecedented step in improving its offerings to the young by searching for ten potential children throughout Malaysia to become part of a provisional Advisory Board, which main task is to deliberate and recommend exciting and fun activities specifically for children so that their stay at the resort remains unforgettable.
Launched as the Kids in Charge! campaign, this project is part of Thistle’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative involving 65 children from six local schools and homes, including Agape Home School and Home of Peace.
Also present at the launch were Simon Farr, Regional Director of Operations of Thistle Hotels; Mr. Chinthaka Weerasinghe, Country Manager Malaysia, SriLankan Airlines; and Mr KJ Wong, General Manager (GSA), SriLankan Airlines.
The search for the ten children is open to all Malaysian and expatriate children aged 7 to 12 years who reside in the country. The public can download the entry form from www.thistle.com/portdickson, answer three questions and obtain the consent from their respective parents/guardians through signature. Besides online, the entry forms are also distributed to schools throughout the country.
All entries received will be reviewed by a panel of six judges and narrowed down to 10 finalists who will be inducted into the board. Each of the 10 board members will be provided with four three-day-and-two-night stays for a family of four at Thistle Port Dickson, during which the respective board meetings will convene.
Overall, four board meetings are to take place over the period of four months until December 2013, after which the board will be dissolved. After the four months, the board member with the most creative idea and best overall performance – as determined by the panel – will be rewarded with a six-day-and-five-night stay at Thistle London for a family of four, including return air tickets, courtesy of SriLankan Airlines.
Entries for the Kids in Charge! project is open until 31 July 2013.
