Kuala Lumpur, 24 February 2015 – The crowd at the hotel lobby was building up as in-house guests and hotel associates waited eagerly for the award-winning Hong Yi Dragon & Lion Dance Association to perform on the fifth day of Chinese New Year. This talented troupe had spectators applauding for them as they performed a series of acrobatic stunts on high poles that were set up at the porch of the hotel. The lion synchronised its movements to the rhythm of a beating drum, gong and cymbals.

To usher in good luck to the hotel, a pair of lions then came into the hotel lobby and continued their performance before presenting a tray of food items consisting of a pomelo, a bunch of green bananas and Mandarin oranges to Mr. Mark Losi, General Manager of PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur. In return, Mr. Losi presented them with an ang pow packet. It is believed that good fortune, good blessing and prosperity will prevail throughout the year with this presentation. The lions then continued blessing other areas of the hotel including restaurants, the ballrooms, as well as various departments and Executive offices.

“This annual event is always anticipated by our in-house guests and associates as the acrobatic stunts performed on high poles never fail to mesmerise them”, expressed Mr. Losi. The lion dance is traditionally performed to chase away negative energies and welcome wealth and prosperity to businesses and homes.
