IPOH, 21 October 2022 – 20,000 visitors are expected at ‘RIUH BENOR!’, the fifth edition of Kembara RIUH Keluarga Malaysia (KRKM) at Sultan Azlan Shah Circle in Ipoh, Perak from October 21 to October 23, 2022. ‘RIUH BENOR!’ was officiated by the Chairman of MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd on Friday night.
The KRKM program, led by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K KOMM) through MyCreative Group (MyCreative), aims to empower local creative industry practitioners and entrepreneurs nationwide whilst connecting the creative community with the public. It also reflects the government’s concern and commitment to restoring the creative industry following the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Noor Azmi Mat Said, “Since its introduction in 2017, the RIUH brand has successfully supported more than 2,053 creative industry activists so far, and its programmes have garnered over 350,000 visitors.” “In 2022, the by-product of economic activities through the organization of this program will have created 3,238 job opportunities for the local community.”
The entire KRKM program is expected to create more than 7,000 job opportunities and support over 5,000 local creative practitioners as well as businesses across 14 locations nationwide. The fifth edition in Ipoh supports a total of 82 local vendors, including 47 retail and 35 food-beverage booths.
‘RIUH BENOR!’ will present a variety of cultural shows, music and dance performances, art exhibitions, pop-up shops, and community activities, as well as eco-creative workshops on making concrete leaf pots, perfumes, soy wax candles, and coloured hats. Visitors will also be able to witness special performances from various famous Malaysian artists, including Jaclyn Victor, TUJULOCA, Ning Baizura, Ruffedge and many more.
According to Noor Azmi Mat Said, “This edition focuses on eco-creative elements through workshops and demonstrations which promote the use of sustainable practices.” This is in line with the Perak Sejahtera Development Program 2030 and the Strategic Planning Plan of the Ipoh City Council to make Ipoh a Low-Carbon and Walkable City. “
Prior to 2022, the RIUH program was primarily based in the Klang Valley. It has since spread its wings to Johor, Sabah, Melaka, and Kelantan under the KRKM nationwide tour to help spur the local creative industry all across the country.
The country’s creative industry is recognized by the government as one of the high-impact strategic industries to be given special focus under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), where it is targeted to contribute RM31.9 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2025. The Kembara RIUH Keluarga Malaysia program is an activation platform that creates opportunities for creative industry practitioners and entrepreneurs to generate income from creative products and activities, thereby contributing to the national economy to achieve this target.
The government is very concerned about the importance of this industry in the development of the country and remains committed to helping revive the creative industry during this transition to the endemic phase.
Thus far, the government’s efforts through MyCreative Group have proven to be successful in bringing together entrepreneurs and local creative practitioners from 10 branches of the creative industry in efforts to develop the local creative ecosystem as well as bring recognition to the creative products and activities of creative entrepreneurs and practitioners.
With that, communities in Perak and neighbouring states are invited to join in at ‘RIUH BENOR!’ and give their support to local creative industry entrepreneurs and practitioners.
