January, February, “Art”, April – Hong Kong is firmly cementing itself as Asia’s leading Arts hub throughout the month of March. The Hong Kong Arts Month present visitors with a line-up of cultural events such as the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2015, Art Basel, Art Central, Le French May, with theatre, music, art exhibitions and more.

Now in its 43rd year and part of Hong Kong Arts Month, the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2015 (HKAF) dedicates the 27th of February till the 29th of March 2015 to feature a dazzling array of 49 international and local ensembles, solo artists, not to mention up to 137 performances. In addition, the Festival’s broad spectrum of events pitches to a wide range of appetite, from classical music, avant-garde theatre, to electrifying dance. Artists, curators, aficionados and admirers of beauty from all around the globe expect to be in awe at Hong Kong’s art haven.

“Great performances have a wonderfully humanising influence,” says Tisa Ho, the festival’s executive director and one of Hong Kong’s most passionate arts advocates. “They release us from everyday life to reconnect with a self that is more vibrantly aware, more centred and at peace; allowing us to be more in tune with fundamental human values shared across different convictions and beliefs.

Art Basel in Hong Kong plays a significant role in the international art world, providing a gateway to the region’s artists. From emerging talents to the Modern masters of both Asia and the West, Art Basel in Hong Kong traces twelve decades of art history across its six sectors: Galleries, Insights, Discoveries, Encounters, Magazines and Film. On display will be the highest quality of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, video and works from the 20th and 21st centuries, by more than 3,000 artists from Asia and around the globe. Founded by gallerists in 1970, Art Basel has been a driving force in supporting the role that galleries play in the nurturing of artists, and the development and promotion of visual arts.

“As well as featuring leading galleries from around the world, Art Basel’s singular exhibition sectors spotlight the latest developments in the visual arts,” says the fair newly appointed Director Asia, Adeline Ooi. “This provides visitors with new ideas, new inspiration and new contacts in the art world” she added.

Ground-breaking Art Central will debut in a specially built pavilion in the heart of the city on Hong Kong Island’s waterfront, close to Star Ferry and the newly opened Observation Wheel.

Art Central invites the art-loving public to engage with museum-quality works by showcasing the next generation of talent alongside the most established contemporary galleries and art spaces from around the world. The expo has also devised a special section entitled ‘Rise’ which will celebrate both solo and dual artist presentations.
