Chef Alshamali will be showcasing his exceptional and creative culinary skills with signature middle-eastern dishes and his favourites featuring locally sourced fresh catch, at the The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa’s signature restaurant, Tide, surrounded by stunning views of the Andaman Sea.
Chef Mohanad Alshamali, a veteran of Middle Eastern fine-dining cuisine and former head chef of ‘Qbara’ which was listed in the world’s 50 best restaurants, is here from Dubai and is all set to take over the Tide kitchen to bring Middle Eastern ambrosia at its finest! During this period, Tide restaurant will be transformed into a place where the dishes on the tables are just as playful as the restaurant’s colour palette, featuring mystic torches, market-style spices and botanicals on display that emulate the vibrancy of the Middle East.
From fattoush and falafel to labneh and lamb chops, Chef Mohanad has added his signature flair to every item on the menu. With modern techniques infused into traditional classics, and contemporary twists on Middle Eastern family recipes, the BHAR pop-up restaurant takes diner on a culinary journey across the region and across time. Chef Mohanad will be bringing to the table, delicacies incorporating the freshest local catch spiced with middle-eastern ingredients as well as handpicked dishes from the BHAR menu at the Renaissance Downtown Dubai.
Soft shell crab Saj with garlic mayonnaise and harissa or Char-grilled octopus with spicy green chilli zhug and roasted potato and Roasted lobster, muhammara and bewaz salad to name a few of the items. A wide selection of Arabic baked breads are accompanied by Zaatar and the popular Moroccan spices as well as freshly prepared Labneh. Popular desserts Oud manjari chocolate mousse, cherry spiced compote with cherry ice cream and Le-ge-matt, fried mini dough balls, stepped in date syrup are a part of the specially crafted menu. This meal would be incomplete without the ice-cream and sorbet section that includes delicious Turkish ice-cream, citrus mint sorbet and much more.
Detailing on his thought behind the menu and cuisine, Chef Mohanad Alshamali, Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai says, “Middle Eastern cuisine is often grouped together as one, though there are many regional nuances within this, and modern as well as traditional approaches.
