KUALA LUMPUR, JANUARY – JustTonite, a hospitality service company has
recently announced the launch of their hotel booking platform JustTonite for consumers to book a stay for one night only, check-in after 6 pm at any hotels listed on their platform from MYR 50 nett onwards.
The hospitality industry in Malaysia has suffered tremendously as it entered a curious year of navigating unchartered waters in 2020 due to COVID-19. Hotels relying on business travel, MICE business, and discretionary leisure travel are in distress, with a significant decline of about 80% in the market, due to the unpredictable international travel ban.
The term ‘Staycation’ has been the buzzword last year in Malaysia when the
Malaysian government announced the lift on the domestic travel ban. According to statistics from Google Trends, and Destination Insights with Google there has been a rising search trend for the topic and term ‘Staycation’ in addition to an increase in domestic travel trend since May 2020 among Malaysia’s online users.
“We have identified a gap to fill in the market. Local travellers are making
instantaneous decisions to travel anywhere domestically for just one night,
while hotels need to fill up distressed inventory and drive revenue at the
eleventh hour to stay afloat in the current situation,” said Hanley Chew,
Founder of JustTonite.
Increased efforts from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC) to further boost domestic tourism has brought about the conceptualisation of JustTonite.
“Recovery prospects for international tourism remains at an unpredictable
state, but one thing is certain, domestic travel will remain as the single largest income contributor to hotels this year.” said Yap Lip Seng, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Association of Hotel (MAH).
“There appears to be an untapped market for spur-of-the-moment travel, and JustTonite is set to do just that, to cater to both the demand for such, as well as the supply, an abundance of hotel rooms left empty before the end of every day.” Yap added.
Local travellers can book and check-in after 6 pm at any hotels listed on
JustTonite for a fixed rate. Hotels and prices listed are categorised into four tiers
- Bronze (MYR 50 nett)
- Silver (MYR 100 nett)
- Gold (MYR 150 nett)
- Platinum (MYR 200 nett)
Customers are required to sign up for an account, choose and pay for the hotel they wish to stay for the night and an instant confirmation will be sent to them.
“With last-minute decisions becoming a new norm, we see the opportunity to support hotels in managing excess inventory and generating additional revenue. It is key that hotel owners understand new travel preferences to secure travel customers. We are currently welcoming hotels to list their properties on our platform,” said Hanley.
JustTonite plans to expand its services to include transportation and attractions in the future and will soon be available as an app for download on App Store and Play Store. Visit https://www.justtonite.com to learn more.
