KUALA LUMPUR, NOVEMBER 2016 – Caffe Pascucci, the leading Italian coffee brand, recently announced its foray into Malaysia with the launch of its three main “CAFFE PASCUCCI SHOPS” at Tropicana City Mall, Menara Hap Seng 2 and Sunway Pyramid. Caffe Pascucci has appointed the Outto Dine Sdn Bhd – one of Malaysia’s premier food & beverages companies, as its Master Franchisee for Malaysia.
Pascucci coffee is used in over 10,000 outlets in the Hotels, Restaurants and Café Bar segment in Italy alone, and it is the core business for the brand. In the year 2000, Pascucci created a new concept of “CAFFE PASCUCCI SHOP”, the coffee retail outlet that has been designed by a famous Italian architect and designer to provide customers with a comfortable and relaxing ambience, offering an insight into how the culture of coffee drinking takes place in Italy. Caffe Pascucci currently operates from around 500 outlets in over 20 countries.
“We are extremely delighted to be partnering with Caffe Pascucci on their foray into Malaysia. Outto Dine would be focusing on bringing select premium food and beverages brands to Malaysia and Caffe Pascucci is one of such ventures. In spite of stiff competition, we are confident of the success of Caffe Pascucci and the brand emerging as one of the most respected and loved coffee brands in Malaysia. In addition to varieties of espresso coffee, Caffe Pascucci would also offer a range of teas and chocolate drinks. Pascucci’s chocolate drinks are unique in taste and a must have, if you are a non-coffee drinker. The menu has an authentic Italian choice, from freshly made salads, sandwiches and lasagna, to a wide range of homemade pasta prepared onsite by our chefs,” said Wayne Yoon, Director of Outto Dine.
“The entry of Caffe Pascucci into Malaysia contributes to the growing “coffee community” in this country. It is in line with our mission to bring the Italian espresso culture, and the preparation of good coffee done with care and in a sustainable manner by our baristas,” enthused Eddy Righi, an award-winning international barista trainer for Caffe Pascucci Italy.
He added, “In my opinion, Malaysia is one of the friendliest places in the world, and I have always been impressed by the people’s warm hospitality. It is an honour for the Pascucci family and I to be able to share our passion and history with such an inspiring community.”
Eddy was recently in Malaysia for the launch of the Caffe Pascucci brand, where he also shared some up close and personal coffee experience moments with the media and guests at the three Caffe Pascucci outlets.
“My first impression of coffee came from my grandmother’s house and her shiny, red baby Gaggia coffee machine. I would always ask her for coffee because I loved the smell. I drank coffee every day since I was 10,” said Eddy.
He says that many baristas in Italy are “born under a counter”, opting to work in the coffee shop because it is their family business. For Eddy however, coffee was more of a passionate pursuit. He landed his first job as a barista at the age of 14 working in the most popular cafés in his hometown of Modena. In 2007, a chance meeting with the then Italian Barista Champion Mariano Semino gave Eddy the direction he needed. He decided that working and competing as a barista was the job for him. From that moment onwards, Eddy vowed to study hard and train even harder to perfect the craft of coffee. He took part in Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) training, studying barista skill levels 1 and 2 in Italy, and later travelled to London to sit for the exams. In 2012, Eddy was the first Italian to have an SCAE Coffee Diploma. Just a year later, he completed his Authorised SCAE Trainer Course with Nuova Simonelli. He has competed in numerous barista championships in Italy since 2008, and in 2016 Eddy won first place in the Italian Brewers Cup Championship.
Eddy further elaborates that some of the key factors which differentiate Caffe Pascucci from other coffee outlets in Malaysia are – the usage of Pascucci’s exclusive blend, consisting of a range of coffee beans sourced from many countries across the globe and roasted in a unique process in Pascucci’s ultra-modern roasting plant, in Montecerignone. All coffee used in the blends are selected through a rigorous process, from the plantation stage itself. The recipes are a result of continuous research by a team of dedicated coffee experts. The menu is updated on a regular basis.
“More than just great coffee, Caffe Pascucci represents a coffee-lovers lifestyle – from morning caffeine cravings to kick-start the brain, to those late night chill sessions with friends. Caffe Pascucci takes coffee seriously; we have been for over 100 years. Coffee is more than just a drink, it is a way of life, and this philosophy shines through in everything that we offer – coffee, cuisine, environment, ambience, and service. It has been satisfying the toughest of coffee customers since the 1880s. Most importantly, Caffe Pascucci is about value-to-the-table, as it provides product and service at standards above its price point,” concluded Eddy.
