ESCAPE Penang is home to two more Guinness World Records:
- Longest Tubby Racer (Dry Ski Slope Slide): 453.3 metres
- Largest Tipping Bucket: 28,757 litres
This bring the total number of world records at ESCAPE Penang to four. The Group previously set the world record for Longest Tube Water Slide at 1,111m in 2019 and Longest Zip Coaster at 1,135m in 2022. This also makes ESCAPE Penang the only theme park in the world to have 4 Guinness World Records rides/attractions.
Tubby Racer
Tubby Racer is a downhill tube ride, taking guests form the top of Gravityplay through the rainforest, achieving maximum speed of over 30km/h. Guests will need to ride the chairlift to reach the top of Gravityplay, where the longest tube water slide and longest zip coaster starts too.
The downhill ride completed its construction and opened in 2019 without realising it was a world record initially. The entire track was built with over 9,156 pieces of dry ski tracks, 61 sets of corner barrier skirtings at the turns, 77 pieces of corner paddings and 440 pieces of side guards along the straights.
Largest Tipping Bucket
Largest Tipping Bucket is a recently added feature to the existing Play House structure at Waterplay. The tipping bucket takes approximately 10 minutes to fill up before tipping over to release 28,757 litres of water.
The bucket was fabricated and installed in separate segments. The main bucket itself is made of steel plates, rectangular hollow sections, angle bars and round bars. The supporting structure itself comprises steel circular hollow sections, round plates, bolts, nuts and washers.
Funny enough, when we opened the Tubby Racer back in 2019 I didn’t even realise it would be a world record. It was only in 2022 after doing a some research I realised this would be the world’s longest.
Most tipping buckets around the world are less than 2000 litres. I thought to myself why don’t I make something more fun that can attract big groups of friends? I never set to break records for its own sake, all I care about is about giving our customers the most smiles per hour.

Founder and executive chairman of Sim Leisure Dato’ Sim Choo Kheng said:
Breaking world records was never my main intention behind the Tubby Racer and the Tipping Bucket. My number one goal is never maximising length or volume of these rides – it’s all about maximising smiles per hour.
Tubby rides all around the world are always straight. When I saw the hill where the Tubby Racer will be, I realised the track will have curves and weave its way through the trees to avoid cutting the trees or defacing the hill. So the Tubby Racer took a big turn, making the ride much more exciting as guests ride down through the hill surrounded by trees and greenery.
About ESCAPE Parks
ESCAPE brings a new genre of fun, offering rides and games set within a natural environment. With a focus on re-introducing the play and values of yesteryear, ESCAPE departs from the longstanding convention of mechanical rides and sugarcoated fairytales in the attractions industry, emphasising self-directed and self-powered play, where visitors experience Low Tech, High Fun. At ESCAPE, fun is measured in smiles per hour.
ESCAPE demonstrates there’s no age limit to having fun as the rides and games are designed for a wide range of age groups, abilities and energy levels.
The ESCAPE brand made its debut with ESCAPE Penang in 2012, followed by ESCAPE Petaling Jaya in 2020 (located in Paradigm Mall PJ) and ESCAPE Ipoh which recently opened in April 2024, situated at the historic TT5 Dredge site near Ipoh, Perak. ESCAPE is also a double Guinness World Record holder, currently holding the world record for the Longest Tube Water Slide at 1,111m and Longest Zip Coaster at 1,135m – both at ESCAPE Penang.
ESCAPE is owned and operated by Sim Leisure Group Ltd, an internationally renowned theme park designer and builder listed on the Singapore Exchange. ESCAPE was inspired by its founder, Dato’ Sim Choo Kheng, who had a mischievous childhood growing up in the kampong by the rainforest – climbing trees, launching friends into the air with tree branches, diving from the treetop into the water and racing downhill on makeshift bicycles.
