The mesmerising sights and pulsating sounds of the streets of Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City, never leave me, even though I am already back home in Malaysia, as if incessantly beckoning me to return.

My first taste of this intoxicating city was during the four-day and three-night trip with AirAsia on 3 to 6 May 2024. From the visit to the jaw-dropping Amber Fort that stands majestically atop the Aravalli hills down to the bustling markets teeming with artisans and traders, Jaipur is continuously captivating with its timeless allure.

One of the highlights of my trip was the intricately designed City Palace, a splendid fusion of Mughal and Rajput architecture. One of my favourite moments in Jaipur was enjoying a refreshing Coke at a café opposite the Hawa Mahal while the setting sun painted the sky in glorious hues. As I snapped photos, the iconic Palace of Winds seemed to glow with elegance, its intricate façade a testament to Jaipur’s architectural splendour.

But perhaps the most unforgettable experience was strolling through the bustling bazaars of Jaipur, where the air is filled with the aroma of spices and the sound of buyers bargaining with sellers. From the intricate handicrafts of Johari Bazaar to the colourful textiles of Bapu Bazaar, each market offers a treasure trove of delights waiting to be discovered.

Fairmont Jaipur

Nestled in the heart of Jaipur, Fairmont Jaipur is a dreamy escape that’s straight out of a royal fairy tale. It cleverly blends traditional Rajasthani influence with modern luxury elements, resulting in a romantic flair that will sweep guests off their feet from the very first moment they step into the property. Meanwhile, its signature room is so fancy and plush that I couldn’t help but feel like being treated as a royalty throughout my stay. Guests who look to pamper themselves further could also indulge in the hotel’s exclusive dining experiences and luxurious spa sessions.

Amber Fort

Perched proudly on the hills of Jaipur, the Amber Fort boasts amazing views of the landscapes around it. A step inside transported me back to the time of kings and queens, with fancy paintings, shiny mirrors, and intricate carvings adorning all spaces. Exploring the fort felt like a treasure hunt, where every corner holds intriguing tales that shine a light on Rajasthan’s remarkable past. My favourite part, however, was the Sheesh Mahal area, as the walls sparkle beautifully under the radiant sun.

Jal Mahal

Ah, Jal Mahal, the Water Palace, left me spellbound during my visit to Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built centuries ago by Maharaja Madho Singh I, this five-storey palace is a true architectural marvel, seamlessly amalgamating Rajput and Mughal styles. The sight of Jal Mahal, nestled amidst the calm waters of Man Sagar Lake, is breathtaking, with its red sandstone walls casting a reflection that danced on the surface of the shimmering lake. Though I couldn’t explore the palace from within, I found joy in simply admiring its splendour from afar, taking leisurely walks along the lakeside promenade, and capturing photographs to cherish forever.

Let me tell you about the City Palace in Jaipur! It’s this magnificent palace complex right in the heart of the Pink City. Can you believe it was built centuries ago by the royal family of Jaipur? Upon walking through those towering gates, I was greeted by halls adorned with intricate decorations and courtyards that stretch as far as the eye can see. And oh, the museums inside: they’re filled with various royal artefacts, textiles, and weaponry, each piece telling a story of its own. And guess what? The Chandra Mahal is still where the royal family lives today. It’s like living history, adding even more appeal to the palace’s already rich history.

The work of producing batik printingf is done very quickly by their experience workers.

Dosaya Block Printing is a delightful peek into India’s textile artistry. I rolled up my sleeves and dived into the traditional craft, joining skilled artisans in the rhythmic dance of wooden blocks on fabric. Amidst the kaleidoscope of colours and patterns, I couldn’t resist grabbing a few batik shirts, each a wearable masterpiece. Leaving Dosaya, I carried not just bags of treasures, but also a deep appreciation towards Indian culture and craftsmanship.

The place has a calming vibe with beautiful architecture and gardens. I enjoyed every bite of the delicious food served, from local Rajasthani dishes to international favourites. The staff is remarkably courteous, and the whole atmosphere is ideal for a relaxing meal. I left feeling satisfied and already looking forward to my next visit to this charming spot in Jaipur.

Roaming the streets of Jaipur, fondly dubbed The Pink City, is a captivating adventure. With each step, I uncovered a new layer of culture and tradition. As I meandered through the labyrinth of lanes, I found myself spellbound by the architectural marvels that adorn the cityscape, each structure whispering tales of bygone eras.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, the iconic “Palace of Winds” in Jaipur, is a sight to behold. Its stunning facade, adorned with intricate latticework and honeycomb windows, never fails to make me awestruck. Every time I gaze upon this enigmatic structure, I’m struck by its sheer beauty and elegance. The way the sunlight dances through the windows, casting intricate patterns of light and shadow, adds to its ethereal charm. In front of Hawa Mahal, there’s a charming cafe where you can indulge in delicious treats while enjoying the view. I visited during sunset, and it was an experience I would never forget. The hues of the sky paint a gorgeous backdrop, making it the perfect setting for taking memorable photos. Trust me, when you visit this attraction during sunset, you’re guaranteed to capture beautiful shots!

The Patrika Gate

The Patrika Gate in Jaipur is like stepping into a colourful storybook of Rajasthan’s culture. As I approached, I was greeted by a burst of vibrant colours and playful artwork. The murals painted on its arches and pillars display tales of tradition and heritage, with lively elephants and swirling patterns encapsulate the essence of Rajasthan. It’s not just a landmark; it’s a joyful celebration of Jaipur’s culture and spirit. It’s no wonder why many travellers flock here for their outfit-of-the-day (OOTD) shots, while newlyweds choose this spot to memorialise their union through photos. But be prepared to be patient and creative to find the perfect angle amidst the crowds — it’s all part of the fun!

Birla Mandir

09_The Birla Mandir in Jaipur is also known as the Laxmi Narayan Temple and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Godess Lakshmi.

As I approached this beautiful temple, I was struck by its pristine white marble exterior gleaming in the sunlight. The intricate carvings and sculptures adorning the temple walls exuded a sense of tranquillity and devotion. Stepping inside, I was greeted by the soothing atmosphere of prayer and spirituality. However, it’s important to note that photography is not permitted inside.
