The government of Malaysia is headquartered in Putrajaya. Who would have guessed that Putrajaya, dubbed the “Smart City”, a metropolis of stunning architecture from the future, has so much to offer visitors?
I recently got to travel to new areas in Putrajaya, and I couldn’t contain my excitement about all the things I could see and do. Perhaps after reading this article, you will be inspired to visit Putrajaya and enjoy the city’s various tourist attractions.
Does anyone in your family share your enthusiasm for prehistoric beasts? Putrajaya’s Wetland Studio is a must-visit! Basing on the natural splendour of Putrajaya Wetland Park as inspiration, this educational theme park is designed to showcase the park’s significance relative to the surrounding neighbourhood. You may explore on your own and check out the exhibits like Jungle Jive, Sky Sanctuary, Flamingo Parade, Skydream VR, Artopia, Aviary Archive, Eduplay Centre, Microton Motion, Inspectopia, Dinosaur Encounter, Stegodons Big Break, and Caventure. Your enjoyment will be amplified by the arrival of a travelling display of lifelike animatronics. The lighting here will take your breath away and transport you back to Stone Age.
Taman Rahsia @ Putra Perdana Secret Garden
Remember the moment in the movie Avatar where they had to attach their hair to the illuminated tree branches? Beautiful LED lights adorn the trees at the Putra Perdana Secret Garden, evoking the world of Avatar. In addition, the park features a wide variety of attractive lighting effects, making it an excellent location for weekend hangout and ‘outfit-of-the-day’ (#ootd) spot.
Equestrian Putrajaya Park / Ekues Cabin Cafe
How often do you find yourself wanting to ride a horse but not knowing where to start? Then head over to Putrajaya Equestrian Park in Precinct 5! However, if the thought of riding a horse makes you nervous, you can instead relax and have some food at the nearby Ekues Cabin Cafe, which is conveniently located next to Putrajaya Equestrian Park. Food, beverages, and sweets of all kinds are being offered. As you eat, you may watch other guests ride the horses around the arena.
Cruise Tasik Putrajaya
If you want to watch sunset on a cruise, you don’t have to travel far – know this if you were planning for a surprise romantic supper for your significant other. Putrajaya Lake Cruise offers several service options such as Cruise, Boat, Venue Rental, and more. The highlight is the candlelit cruise around Putrajaya Lake on a traditional boat called Dondang Sayang for a romantic experience.
Glow Glamping
It’s hard to believe that in the centre of bustling, modern Putrajaya, there’s a spot where you can go ‘glamping’ or glamorous camping. Those of you in Putrajaya need not travel far to enjoy a weekend of camping. Archery, trampoline-jumping, and badminton are just a few of the available activities. Bicycles can be rented for MYR5 for three hours, allowing visitors to explore the Wetland region at their own pace. Nighttime entertainment includes stargazing, karaoke, bonfires, and a barbecue supper buffet, while daytime pursuits include lounging by the pool or exploring the grounds.
Nasyrul Quran Complex
You should check out this second largest Al-Quran printing centre in the world, only after Medina in Saudi Arabia. Here, you can witness the antique display of the Al-Quran and learn about its production process firsthand. Sacred texts like the original Al-Quran manuscripts are available for sale here.
Bird Watching & Madu Kelulut Precinct 15
Do you enjoy doing things that can help you unwind after a hectic week? Then why not undertake activities like birdwatching and feeding hummingbirds to get in touch with nature? Those interested in seeing birds up close can do so in several locations around Putrajaya. Birding, also known as birdwatching, is a popular form of ecotourism that can be enjoyed either visually (with the naked eye or optical aids like binoculars or telescopes) or aurally (by listening to the birds’ sounds and calls). In addition, Madu Kelulut (stingless bee) farm in Precinct 15 is worth a visit. These bees generate the resin required to build Kelulut hives in apiaries built by the local community. You can just pick up a straw, open an apiary where the bees create the hives and directly suck out the honey from the honeycombs.
Climbing Sports Complex & Putrajaya Water Recreation Center
Do you take pleasure in adventurous pursuits and aquatic sports? In Putrajaya, Kompleks Suka Mendak offers an adrenaline-pumping alternative in the form of artificial wall-climbing. Expert Boulder, Intermediate Boulder, Expert Lead Climbing, Beginner Top Roping, Speed Climbing, and Advanced Lead Climbing are the five parts of the trapezoidal climbing wall at this facility. In addition, the Putrajaya Water Recreation Centre is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a place to relax and have fun in the water. Here, you can try your hand at kayaking, paddle-boating, fishing, and the newest addition, stand-up paddling, or SUP.
Putra Mosque, Moroccan Pavilion Putrajaya & Putrajaya Story
Stumped for a location for your picture shoot? Let me show you three of the most photogenic spots in Putrajaya that are ideal for capturing your outfit of the day.
The Putra Mosque is Putrajaya’s most recognisable landmark. Three distinct areas – the area for worship (prayers), the courtyard, and the ceremony room—make up this stunning pink domed edifice made of rose-coloured granite.
Next is the Morocco Pavilion, built to represent the sharing of cultures between Malaysia and Morocco and serves as a showcase for the stunning works of Moroccan traditional architecture and design characterised by colourful mosaics and reliefs inspired by Arabic calligraphy, ideal for a photography session.
The newest tourist destination in Putrajaya is the gallery called Putrajaya Story which showcases everything about Putrajaya. The gallery tour culminates at the chocolate store called the Souq Shoppe, so this is the place where you and your family or friends receive an education, an adventure, and a good time all under one roof.
Gaya Travel Magazine team members extend our heartfelt gratitude to Putrajaya Corporation for organising the trip for the team and selected media, including influencers, to explore Putrajaya.
