The State of Selangor, supported by Tourism Selangor presents Selangor International Indigenous Arts Festival 2015 that was held on the 22nd August & 23rd August 2015 at the Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam.

This inaugural event showcases multiple performances by indigenous people, exhibits, a cultural night, a carnival and many more. There are also special performances by invitation from the state of Selangor, Pahang, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak and indigenous people from overseas such as the Philippines. The other attraction is the carnival, where people can enjoy the tribal exhibits, arts and handicrafts. Some of the handcrafts such as wood carvings and weavings were also on sale, as well as many other things.

The event was open to public will be able to give its audience a peek into their culture and heritage through the exhibits, performances and arts. “Better understanding of the cultures provides a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the uniqueness and the diversity amongst the backdrop of multiculturalism in our state and country” said YB Elizabeth Wong who was present at the opening ceremony and officiated the festival.

She also urged the public to also support the event and also learn about the rich culture and heritage of the indigenous people and understand the importance of preserving and the responsibility of the indigenous culture and heritage.

The Indigenous people are a part of Selangor and they further enrich the many cultures that are found in the state of Selangor itself. This is a celebration of their art and culture.
