The Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival arrived again this year after being held for over 15 years, bringing excitement to tourists, both local and foreign. With the theme “Colouring The Sky”, this year’s kite festival attracted more tourists and showcased more interesting and colourful kites. There were various kite competitions held based on categories with prizes worth the total of RM40,000 to be won.
As in the previous years, Bukit Layang-Layang is the permanent site for this much touted annual event, which lasted four days and boasted 600 local and international participants, making it one of the most successful events in Malaysia’s tourism calendar. In conjunction with this festival, the organiser chalked a new record in The Malaysian Book of Records by simultaneously flying 3,000 kites, all made possible by the students from nearby schools.
There were also local celebrities that took part in this event. Apart from kite competitions, there were other activities held on the site such as kite-making workshops, colouring competition, cultural performances and blood donation drive. The success of this year’s festival challenges the organisers to do even better next year.
