Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading technology company has taken a step forward – in lieu with the month of patriotism – to become an advocate in expanding opportunities and empowering students in Malaysia by collaborating with non-profit organisation Teach For Malaysia (TFM).
In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Traveloka along with Teach For Malaysia strives to build the nation by inspiring Malaysian children from under-performing schools to grow, improve and better themselves, while providing solutions to challenges that are faced by these underprivileged communities in recent times.
“We decided to work with Teach For Malaysia to ensure every child is given equal access to quality education of a respectable standard and to give each of them an opportunity to realise their potential,” said Halif Hamzah, Traveloka Country Manager of Malaysia and Singapore.
“Recognising the importance of education for a better future, Teach For Malaysia’s initiatives have brought positive impacts to the children of Malaysia as they endeavor to provide an improved quality of education to underprivileged children, and in order for TFM to remain sustainable, we hope that our partnership will also encourage public and private organisations to support TFM in their mission to address education inequality in Malaysia.”
Making a contribution in every way possible, Traveloka will be donating RM10 to TFM with every specific coupon code entered when booking a hotel with the Traveloka platform starting August 1st till October 31st 2019. Additionally, Traveloka will be sponsoring a selected group of students from TFM schools for a trip to Kuala Lumpur end of this year to experience the huge variety of attractions and food adventures that the capital city of Malaysia can give, spreading joy and sharing good vibes among one another. This initiative is aligned with our mission to enrich people’s lives by empowering people to discover the world around them.
“At Traveloka, we believe that everyone has the equal opportunity to travel, be it locally or overseas. We want to make traveling accessible to anyone, similar to how TFM is with providing education access for the underprivileged. For some of these students, they have not had the opportunity to travel out of their village at all! As such, we want to stretch their worldviews to let them know that opportunity and help will always be given to them, and as Malaysians they have every right to travel as much as any of us do,” said Halif.
Teach For Malaysia previously welcomed notable figures such as Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Datuk Hisham Hamdan, Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Datuk Jimmy Choo, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina and Datin Paduka Marina binti Mahathir to teach alongside TFM Fellows for a day.
