When we first set foot at the premises of Wadihana Islamic Steakhouse, we were instantly delighted. The restaurant’s white walls and white upholstery bring calmness and serenity to its customers, creating a remarkably ideal ambience for all food enthusiasts seeking memorable dining experience.
The restaurant is located amongst the many cafes and restaurants in the heart of Bandar Baru Bangi. What sets Wadihana Islamic Steakhouse (WISH) apart from the other neighbouring food operators is its use of traditionally Italian wood-fire oven for preparing dishes like pizzas and certain pastries authentically.
WISH Founder, Tuan Haji Abdul Hamid Hamat, spent RM28,000 on the oven alone, testifying to his seriousness in serving well prepared good food to the public. ‘There are no shortcuts in Wadihana,’ he said. Even the stone base for the oven was imported all the way from Italy. Customers should not miss ordering the wood-fired pizza when dining at WISH.
The name Wadihana was taken from the founder’s childhood home base, which was a neighbourhood full of gentle Malay traditional homes located in the centre of Johor Bahru. Sadly, Wadihana no longer exists due to rapid development of Johor Bahru’s centre. Instead, WISH Steakhouse intends to become the new watering hole for former Wadihana residents to enjoy, much to the delight of Tuan Haji Hamid.
Befitting its name, WISH follows the Islamic principles of food preparation, which are halal (meat sourced from animals that were carefully slaughtered according to the Islamic law or Syariah and all food are devoid of anything deemed haram or forbidden); and toyibban (clean and safe for consumption). Customers can be rest assured of the quality of the food served here.
WISH has its own cold room for meat storage and its own in-house butcher to ensure the meat’s freshness. The cold room is located at Wadihana Islamic Kitchen (another restaurant belonging to the same group of company) which is just a stone’s throw away from WISH.
WISH serves an extensive list of western food on its menu to cater for all: soups, salads, steaks, fajitas, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and of course, the wood-fired pizza. The food are not only prepared with the adults in mind but also children through the restaurant’s own Kid’s Menu. The soups are creamy and heart-warming. The salads are fresh and crisp. The steaks are tender and juicy. The fajitas are tender and make great appetisers. The seafood is succulent. The burgers and sandwiches are done to perfection and generous. The pasta and pizza made us want to say Mamma Mia! Meanwhile, WISH’s beverages and desserts make great tummy fillers for those who just want something light while catching up with friends.
WISH’s claim to fame is its in-house specialty sauces, which make excellent steak combinations. The kinds of sauces available are apple barbecue, mushroom, tarragon béarnaise, black pepper and garlic sauce. All of them are developed in WISH’s test kitchen, all approved by 30 of the group’s chefs before they were allowed to be served to customers. We are happy to note that other types of sauces are also on the way.
Tuan Haji Hamid shared a story about a customer who was craving for lobster before lobsters were offered on WISH’s menu. At first WISH was reluctant to serve a meal that was not tested and approved, but the customer’s persistent request was hard to ignore. The WISH team then relented and fulfilled the customer’s craving and made her happy. Thanks to that customer, WISH now offers American lobsters on their menu. WISH is more than happy to accommodate special requests from customers, whom they would do anything to please since they are considered family.
Despite its upmarket ambience, international choices, quality food and good service, the prices here remain reasonable and value-for-money. WISH is a highly recommended family restaurant with friendly staff. Already four years old, it is not difficult to see that WISH is set to achieve more successes in many years to come.

September 28, 2014 at 7:47 PMJust ate at WISH klang branch near GM. Very bad service. At the end, the cashier never return the bill or balance. A bit pricey compare to food served. Can get a better taste and service at HR steak house.
