Art Meets Nature: Discover The East Coast Art Festival in Taiwan 2024 Moonlight Sea Concert “Becoming the Flow of the Boundary”
Taitung, 4 September 2024 — The Taiwan “Moonlight Sea Concert” begins in June each year and will continue this year until 20th September, held at the Duli Visitor Centre. This event coincides with the 10th Anniversary of the East Coast Land Art Festival. The theme for this year is “Becoming the Flow of the Boundary,” combining concerts, creative markets, and a special series of exhibitions marking the 10th anniversary. Visitors from both home and abroad are invited to embark on this exciting and surprising journey along the East Coast.

Discover the 2024 Moonlight Sea Concert: “Becoming the Flow of the Boundary” Since its inception in 2015, the East Coast Land Art Festival has served as a platform for sustainability, eco-friendliness, and localisation. It brings together artists and hosts major events such as the Moonlight Sea Concert, artisan market, and cultural platforms. The “Moonlight Sea Concert” uses natural landscapes as its stage, with dynamic displays of natural phenomena like the rising and setting of the moon and the ebb and flow of tides, subtly embodying the festival’s philosophy of leisure and the aesthetic style of life on the East Coast. Each year, it attracts over ten thousand participants.
This year’s concert series features eight performances, continuing until 20 September, with guest artists from Taiwan and abroad. The festival’s theme, “Becoming the Flow of the Boundary,” aims to express the dynamic relationship between the island’s ecology and cultural diversity.
Artisan Market and Cultural Platform
In addition to the concerts, the festival will feature an artisan market and cultural platform, showcasing local handicrafts, including handmade jewellery, pottery, textiles, and traditional foods, offering travellers a glimpse into Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage. The cultural platform will host workshops and interactive activities, allowing participants to learn about local traditions, engage in artmaking, and connect with the community.

The upcoming concerts in August and September as part of the East Coast Land Art Festival are free to attend. Travellers can fly to Taitung Airport from Taipei Songshan Airport or Taoyuan Airport or take a train to Taitung Railway Station. During the event, it is recommended that shuttle services be booked in advance, and ride-sharing taxi services can be booked online to reduce transportation costs.
Additionally, visitors can take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle East Coast Line and Yuli-Changbin Coastal Line to view art installations at various stops. On weekends, bus guides will provide detailed explanations of the art and scenery.
