Experience the Adventure of Another Music Festival in Sarawak
First it was the award winning Rainforest World Music Festival with Sarawak’s traditional Sape, the boat-shaped lute that has become the symbol of the festival, then it was the Borneo Jazz, bringing jazz from around the world to Sarawak. Coming up next Sarawak will have the Asia Music Festival.
The inaugural Asia Music Festival will be held in Miri, Sarawak from 4 to 5 October 2013. This festival promises the most electrifying eclectic mix of live music on stage comprising bands from the Asian region. It will take place at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, an enchanting location, with the splash of greeneries and the forest looming on the horizon. Right out of this tropical jungle is carved a golf course. As you close your eyes and take a deep breath, the stress of life will be overtaken by the soft singing of the cricket and the smell of fresh air of the countryside.
ADVERTISEMENTS
The festival has an objective of attracting the Asian expatriate community working in neighbouring Brunei, the local Bruneians themselves, the neighbours from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia as well as those in Indonesia, Singapore and the region. The atmosphere is planned to be that of a carnival as apart from the evening shows.
Based on the success of the Rainforest World Music Festival and the Borneo Jazz, Sarawak Tourism Board is confident that the inaugural Asia Music Festival will thrill the crowds when it makes its debut in October 2013. “This is an inspiring opportunity for everyone to come together and experience the adventure of yet another music festival” says Dato’ Rashid Khan, CEO, Sarawak Tourism Board.
Bands that have been confirmed for this first year event are Bembol Rockers (Philippines), VSTAR featuring Kamal Musallam (Korea), Anthony Dassan Yen Party Band (South India), Orkes Soesah Tideor (Indonesia), Foxy Girls (Indonesia), Boy Thai Band (Thailand), Tritha (North India) and Fakhrul Razi (Brunei).
There will also be bands and singers from Malaysia and among them are Melissa Francis, Starlet Band, The Mountain Wind Band, Hevance Band and Sarawak very own Bob from the famous Malaysian TV program, Akademi Fantasia.
