Furama Bukit Bintang Conducts a Smoke Free Hotel Campaign
Furama Bukit Bintang which opened in July 2011 features itself as a non-smoking hotel, has taken a step further to reenergise its non-smoking hotel standing to patrons by conducting a “smoke free hotel” campaign for the next 3 months from June to August 2013.
The campaign was launched on 1 June 2013 by hotel manager, K L Tan. For this campaign, hotel associates are required to wear a badge on their uniforms with the message “smoke free hotel” written on it.
The hotel also displays no-smoking signs in various parts of the hotel such as in guest room television screens, public area television screens, tent-cards in guest rooms and no-smoking signs in its washrooms, room corridors and reception counter.
During the launch, K L Tan said, “we decided to take this step to reenergise our non-smoking hotel status as we do encounter a small number of guests who smoke in the rooms occasionally despite the no-smoking signs in place. Cigarette smell is not easily removed and thorough cleaning is required to eliminate the odour.
To clean a particular room will consume extra man power and cleaning time leading to a loss of revenue during peak season whereby the room will not be saleable. As smoking is considered a health hazardous lifestyle, we at Furama Bukit Bintang inculcate a healthy lifestyle among our associates and this campaign is also in compliance with the Malaysian Health Ministry’s legislation governing on no-smoking in airconditioned premises.”
Guests who wish to smoke are allowed to do so at the designated smoking areas located outside the hotel building.
