
Malindo Air Reaches for The Sky
Sepang, 2013 – Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri today officially launched the new hybrid carrier, Malindo Air in Kuala Lumpur International.
Airport after months of speculation and anxiety. The ceremony before the departure of its scheduled flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu was also witnessed by officials from the Ministry of Transport, Department of Civil Aviation and other invited guests.

“Malindo Air’s scheduled flights to Kota Kinabalu will certainly help boost tourism into Sabah, where statistics for last year reflected an encouraging figure of 1.87 million visitors,” said Datuk Abdul Rahim in his launching speech.
“With Malindo Air’s plan to convert Kota Kinabalu into a second hub, there will be direct connectivity into Sabah for travelers especially from Indonesia, Korea, Japan and China.
This will also hike up investment into the state and open up more job opportunities.” The much awaited Malindo Air services operate with brand new Boeing 737-900ERs (extended range) airplanes and promise not just low cost but superior products and services as well.
Malindo Air Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chandran Rama Muthy said, “We are thrilled to take off and introduce for the first time a Hybrid Airline concept in Malaysia with Business and Economy Classes product offerings.
This is an opportunity for our customers to enjoy greater savings through our unique set of services such baggage allowances of 30kg for Business Class travellers and 15kg for those travelling in the

Economy Class. Our Business Class seats have a seat pitch of 45 inches whereas the 32 inches seat pitch in the Economy Class is added convenience for our customers. Each seat is equipped with a personal TV for In-flight Entertainment.”
Malindo Air’s emergence with flights to Sabah and Sarawak will help improve connectivity and therefore give an option for people to travel, either the premium travellers or the price sensitive ones.
“The Boeing 737-900ERs is the most ideal choice of airplane for Malindo Air to serve our passengers in this region,” added Chandran. “We’re very honoured to be the first airline in Malaysia to fly the 737-900ER as a matter of fact.”
