It’s a ‘Masks and Hats’ Night for One World’s Hotel 6th Birthday Bash
To celebrate its 6th anniversary, One World Hotel hosted an annual dinner in their Ruby Ballroom to treat all associates for their contributions all year long. The ballroom was filled with over 500 associates together with Directors of the hotel, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Teo Soo Cheng and Dato’ Teo Chiang Hong and General Manager, Ho Hoy Sum whom grace the event.
It was a grand sight as associates arrived in style and adorned themselves with beautiful hats and interesting masks in conjunction with the theme of the night ‘Masks and Hats’. Every detail was meticulously planned and revolved around the theme from the entrance arch to the stage, photo wall and table decorations.
To officiate the event, MC for the night, Dee of ‘Jangan Ketawa’ invited the hotel’s director, Dato’ Teo Chiang Hong, on stage to give a speech. In his speech, he shared his gratitude and thanked all associates of One World Hotel. “The hotel has come so far and it is only possible with the effort and dedication from everyone,” he said.

After the speech ceremony, Mr. Ho Hoy Sum, General Manager of One World Hotel along with all department heads, start off the party by performing a Latin inspired dance number. Then, associates were kept entertained with exciting programmes and performances from the guest artistes Puteri, Hafzal, Aweera and Dior throughout the night.
Highlights of the night are ‘The One World Idol’, a karaoke competition, ‘Mister and Miss One World’, a fashion show featuring staffs dressed in beach wear and Victorian costume, ‘Superstar of the year 2013’ or better known as employee of the year and the Long Service Awards to acknowledge staff loyalty.

The winner of the singing competition, Ms. Audrey, sang the classic “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor and wowed the audiences and judges with her powerful vocal. For that she won herself the grand prize of RM500. The award for Mister and Miss One World goes to Mr. Mohd. Faizal and Ms. Radin Fairuz for their great chemistry as a team and they both strut off with cash prize of RM300 each. Mr. Muhammad Shahir was awarded with the Superstar of the year award for his job efficiency and all staff that has been with the hotel for at least 5 years were presented with appreciation certificates for their continuous service.
Last but not least, the moment which all associates waited patiently for the whole night, the Lucky Draw segment. Lucrative prizes were given away ranging from shopping and dining vouchers to cash, holiday treats and electronic items. Winner of the grand prize went to Mr. Khairyzaman and he takes home with him a 2 door Samsung fridge.
