Tourism Selangor invites tourism industry players, members of the public, non-profit organisations (NGOs), associations, higher institutions, registered tourist guides and Selangor Community Hosts to come up with ideas on how to sustain Selangor’s domestic tourism industry through the Selangor Domestic Tourism Recovery Plan pitch competition.

From 14 June until 31 July 2021, Tourism Selangor’s Industrial Development division is organising the Selangor Domestic Tourism Recovery Plan pitch competition, which is aimed at rebuilding the state’s domestic tourism industry via effective approaches based on new norms or through initiatives geared towards bracing the global pandemic.

The pitch competition invites tourism industry players, members of the public, non-profit organisations (NGOs), associations, higher institutions, registered tourist guides and Selangor Community Hosts to come up with ideas on how to sustain Selangor’s domestic tourism industry.

Tourism Selangor hopes to attract at least 50 pitches during the competition. 30 pitch proposals will be short-listed by August 2021. In September 2021, 20 of those proposals will be further evaluated to win any of the 10 main prizes or consolation prizes.

20 winning prizes totalling RM150,000 worth of Project Grants await the winners of this competition. Each of the 10 main winners will walk away with a RM10,000 project grant, while another 10 consolation prize winners will each take home a project grant worth RM5,000. Winners get the opportunity to present their proposals during Tourism Selangor Global Convention 2021 in November.

The pitch is to be presented in either Bahasa Malaysia or English, covering aspects on how Selangor can regain travellers’ trust and make the state a leading travel destination in Malaysia again. Every pitch should focus on one of the following categories: “Creative and Innovative Tourism”; “Sustainable Tourism”; or “Tourism Digitalisation”.
