Kuala Lumpur, 21 December 2023 – Batik Air is proud to announce its latest addition to its expanding route network, which is set to commence in February 2024, connecting Malaysia to four captivating international destinations – Kunming, Zhangjiajie and Zhengzhou in China, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

This strategic move is in line with Batik Air’s commitment to providing diverse travel options and strengthening its presence in key Asian tourist destinations.

Group Strategy Director of Batik Air, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said that the expansion into China and Taiwan symbolises Batik Air dedication to curating journeys that go beyond borders, fostering connections, and enriching lives.

Kunming, China – Gateway to Natural Wonders 

Nestled in the heart of Yunnan Province, Kunming beckons travellers with its scenic landscapes, vibrant culture, and consistently pleasant climate all-year-round. Known as the “City of Eternal Spring,” the city defies seasonal norms, offering a perpetual embrace of mild temperatures and blooming flora that promises a visual feast for every traveller, showcasing the cherry blossoms in spring, the lush greenery of summer, and the golden hues of autumn.

Embark on a transformative journey to Kunming (KMG) starting February 8, 2024, with direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) available four times weekly, providing flexibility to those seeking a memorable getaway.

The flight departs KLIA every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 9:50 pm, and the return flight departs at 2:35 am operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Zhangjiajie, China – A Mystic Adventure Unveiled 

Uncover the enchantment of Zhangjiajie, an alluring city situated in the northwestern part of China’s Hunan province. Renowned for its surreal beauty and natural marvels, Zhangjiajie is frequently hailed as the “Avatar Mountains,” where the iconic Zhangjiajie National Forest Park takes centre stage, showcasing towering sandstone pillars reminiscent of the cinematic masterpieces of Avatar.

The inaugural flight to Zhangjiajie (DYG) will commence on February 9, 2024, with direct flights from KLIA operating three times a week. The flight departs from KLIA at 9:30 am and the return flight departs at 03:25 pm every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Zhengzhou, China – A Cultural Odyssey Awaits 

Explore Zhengzhou, a captivating city nestled in the central part of China’s Henan province.  Renowned as the “Golden City” due to its historical significance as a pivotal transportation hub and economic focal point, Zhengzhou entices travellers with a harmonious mix of ancient wonders and modern marvels.

Resuming on February 9, 2024, the route to Zhengzhou (CGO) will offer direct flights from KLIA four times a week. The flight departs KLIA every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 7:40 pm and the return flight departs at 2:00 am operating on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Kaohsiung, Taiwan – Where Heritage Meets Beauty 

Kaohsiung, located on the southern tip of Taiwan, effortlessly blends rich heritage with breathtaking beauty. Preserving its cultural heritage, Kaohsiung showcases iconic landmarks like the historic Lotus Pond, adorned with ornate temples and pavilions that stand in harmony with the serene waters.

Commencing on February 7, 2024, the upcoming route to Kaohsiung (KHH) will operate three times weekly, offering passengers a convenient schedule to explore this rich cultural destination, which marks Batik Air’s second gateway into Taiwan. The flight departs from KLIA at 2:15 am and the return flight departs at 5:00 pm every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

This flight will also continue to Nagoya, creating a bridge with Japan. Currently, the flights between KLIA and Taipei (TPE) operate twice daily and connect to three destinations in Japan – Okinawa, Osaka, and Nagoya. With this new service, Nagoya flight frequencies will increase to six times weekly.

These flights are operated using the Boeing 737-8 aircraft, featuring 180 Economy Class seats. The fare includes a 20-kg baggage allowance for passengers. Batik Air also offers a selection of pre-purchased meals and an additional baggage allowance at discounted rates. Meals and drinks are also available for purchase onboard all Batik Air flights.
