Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 2016

G Hotel is pleased to once again spread the Christmas cheer by kick starting the celebration on the 2^nd December 2016 with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at G Hotel Gurney lobby. In the light of the festive celebration, G Hotel continued the charity programme entitled “A Time to Give” as one of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for more than 7 consecutive years, in aid of the 32 children from the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony sees the support from the media members and in-house guests. The Grand Lobby sits a 20 feet tall Christmas Tree that is decorated in the theme of green with handmade ornaments, lightings and a star, the tree topper that got everyone into the festive mood.

The event started with a short welcoming speech by Mr Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel, followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree, which is to mark the start of the Christmas Season. Moments later, Christmas carols can be heard across the lobby, sung by the children from the Home bringing everyone into the festive mood. It is then followed by spectacular dance performances which managed to entertain and showcase their talents to all those who present that night.

Storm of applause greeted the children for their stunning performance from the floor. The children then proceed to launch “A Time to Give” charity event. They were lined up in a row to hang their wish cards on the Christmas tree located at the corner of the lobby. Name of each child were written on the Christmas wish cards along with their wishes such as clothes, watches, football, stationeries, sport shoes, school bags and many others. The public is encouraged to pick up a card of their choice of gift, purchase the gift and place it under the Christmas tree before 16 December 2016. There are over 60 wish cards and each of the children will receive two gifts. With a loving and generous heart, the wishes of these children will be fulfilled, giving them a wonderful and memorable Christmas.

Light refreshments were also served throughout the night made by the renowned pastry chefs of G Hotel including fabulously rich Eggnog, freshly baked Christmas Cookies, delicate Christmas Fruit Cake, Macaroons which set to give a sweet beginning for the Christmas celebration with G Hotel and drinks including beer and wine.

“A Time to Give” will be held again on the 21^st December 2016, where all the gifts are gathered under the Christmas Tree and the children will receive and unwrap their presents at G Hotel Gurney’s lobby. In this season of joy, let’s make your contribution together with G Hotel today.
