This luxury resort is also committed to preserving and promoting the rich local tradition and culture of Labuan Bajo. Inspired by The Luxury Collection’s ethos of connecting with surrounding traditions, TA’AKTANA draws inspiration from the Lingko field – an agricultural masterpiece found only in Flores, shaped like a spiderweb. The shape of the site, such as the interconnected terraces of the villas and pathways, is also inspired by the geometries of rice fields, symbolizing the region’s ancient culture. The materials used throughout the resort further represent and honour the area’s rich heritage.

As part of this commitment, TA’AKTANA embraces a unique tradition from Labuan Bajo’s past. In times when electricity was absent, locals illuminated their surroundings with lanterns or candles. In a nod to this historical practice, TA’AKTANA provides lanterns in every room for guests to use when strolling around the property. This thoughtful touch creates a unique and immersive experience, connecting guests with the rich cultural heritage of the region.

In its commitment to environmental sustainability, TA’AKTANA adopts a proactive stance by engaging in various initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the ecosystem. Notably, the resort actively participated in Beach Cleaning activities at Wae Rana Beach Labuan Bajo, where they collaborated with the #BersihBajo initiative to clean and preserve the coastal environment.

Moreover, the resort has taken significant strides to minimize its environmental footprint by minimizing the use of plastic bottles, starting with glass bottled mineral water. Demonstrating its commitment to the principles of recycling, reduction, and reuse, TA’AKTANA also has an onsite bottling plant. This initiative not only showcases the resort’s dedication to eco-friendly practices but also underscores its responsible approach to waste reduction.

Additionally, the resort creatively repurposes waste batik fabrics, transforming them into elegant table napkins. Waste fabrics from staff uniforms find a second life as charming hair-scrunchies, presented as souvenirs to TA’AKTANA’s esteemed guests. Through these innovative measures, TA’AKTANA is aligning itself with sustainable living, emphasizing a harmonious coexistence with its natural surroundings. The integration of energy-efficient technologies further solidifies the resort’s commitment to preserving the pristine beauty that envelops its environment.

By implementing these principles, TA’AKTANA not only ensures a luxurious and memorable experience for its guests but also actively contributes to the well-being and preservation of Labuan Bajo’s rich heritage and natural surroundings also the sustainability of local small businesses in all over Indonesia.
