JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia, September 10, 2014 – DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru hosted a “red” themed cocktail reception for members of the local and international media fraternity in celebration of its official launch as the second DoubleTree by Hilton property in Malaysia. The inception of the new hotel is in response to the growing demand for upscale hotels and hyper-local experiences, especially in Malaysia’s southern region. In this regard, DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru offers enhanced options for business and leisure guests seeking a full-service hotel offering and award-winning service.

The event was hosted by Simon McGrath, General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru at one of the hotel’s innovative restaurants – Tosca, an Italian trattoria that offers stunning views of the Straits of Johor. Guests at the launch were greeted with warmth and outstanding hospitality, which started with the signature warm chocolate chip cookie upon their arrival.

The chocolate chip cookie characterises welcome and cares in DoubleTree by Hilton’s culture. The hotel chain has been baking these signature chocolate chip cookies for travellers all over the world for the past 25 years. DoubleTree by Hilton gives out approximately 60,000 chocolate chip cookies to guests each day adding up to more than 21 million cookies annually. Since DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru’s opening in July, more than 10,000 chocolate chips cookies have been given out to guests.

Leading up to the launch, the hotel engaged notable social media personalities and influencers in a classic “whodunnit-styled” real-life gameplay revolving around DoubleTree by Hilton’s signature chocolate chip cookie. Divided into two teams, these personalities were engaged in a “Cluedo-meets-Amazing Race” type game where they had to use clues and social media platforms to identify a fictitious thief who had allegedly stolen one of the hotel’s iconic cookies. Titled “Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?”, the game enabled participants to experience various facets and offerings of the hotel, including its F&B outlets, guest rooms and suites, business centre, MICE facilities, wedding centre and swimming pool, before ultimately deducing the alleged “culprit”.
