IKEA Malaysia Encourages Malaysians to Make More of Their Homes

PETALING JAYA, 9 October 2026 — IKEA Malaysia is encouraging Malaysians to rethink home organisation through its new A Place for Everything and Everyone initiative, highlighting how thoughtful storage can make homes more functional without requiring additional space.

The initiative is supported by findings from the inaugural IKEA Home Organisation Index 2026, a nationwide survey of 506 Malaysian adults. The study found that only one in 10 respondents genuinely needed more space, suggesting that better organisation could help many households make better use of their existing homes.

Launched under the campaign Sorted Lah!, the initiative recognises that household belongings often carry practical or sentimental value. According to the survey, 40% of Malaysians identified sentimental items and keepsakes as the hardest things to organise, while one in three said differing needs and routines among family members made home organisation more challenging.

Takeshi Murai, country retail director of IKEA Malaysia, said the aim was to help households create homes that work better for everyone, regardless of size.

The company’s approach focuses on practical storage solutions across kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms and other areas of the home. IKEA Malaysia also highlighted that more than 1,000 products are permanently priced below RM10, giving consumers affordable options to begin organising their spaces.

To bring the campaign to life, IKEA Damansara, Cheras, Tebrau and Batu Kawan will host the Sorted Lah! Open House every weekend from 10 October to 1 November 2026.

Visitors can take part in The Sorting Escape, a hands-on storage challenge, alongside activities including The Listening Lounge, The Design Table, The Great Book Club, Say Hej! and Little Designers. The top teams in The Sorting Escape will return on the final weekend to compete for the title of King of Storage.

Slots for The Sorting Escape can be booked from 8 October 2026 at the dedicated booking website. For more information, visit IKEA Malaysia or follow its official social media channels.
