Istanbul Currently Holds Shopping Fest 2017
The 7th Istanbul ShoppingFest (İSF) was launched on 1 July 2017 at the Grand Bazaar with much fanfare, offering shopping enthusiasts and shopaholics an exciting experience through this year’s iSF new brand concept called ‘Design ISF’. The 556-year old Grand Bazaar – which is the world’s first shopping centre – is full of retail surprises for everybody.

Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Topbaş and İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) Chairman İbrahim Çağlar also participated in the launch, including over 50 actors and dancers in period outfits representing Ottoman splendour. The opening ceremony was also attended by more than 40 press members from 13 countries including France, Italy, Russia, China and Singapore.
Istanbul ShoppingFest has been organised for 7 years to make Istanbul a preferred shopping destination among international shoppers and travellers.
Akasya Shopping Centre
During the festival, “Design ISF” areas showcasing high quality local designers and retailers are set up at nine shopping centres throughout the city: Akasya, Capitol, Emaar Square Mall, Forum İstanbul, İstinye Park, Kanyon, Palladium, Venezia and Zorlu Centre. These areas offer shopping opportunities, including the chance for the public to know more about local-based design and art through products from the famous manufacturers of jewellery, accessories, furniture, ceramics, graphics, fabrics, books, stationery, glassware, lighting and fashion by BaharKorçan, ArzuKaprol and Gamze Saraçoğlu.

Exhibitions of artists such as Günseli Kato, Malik Bulut, Yilmaz Kale, Ebru Yücel Kale, Design Foundation, ElifTutka, Ömer Atakan, Yusuf Aygeç, Aynur Önürmen and RüstemEkici also take place in the shopping centres during the festival.
Uninvited Jazz Band, Tango Rojo, Can Türkkan, Arbil Çelen, JülideHatay, Deniz Güngörand Ali Deniz Kardelen perform dance and music performances at the designated Design İSF areas. Additionally Rudolf Van Nunen, Garip Ay, SarePalaska, AslıBilgin, NilayYılmaz, Sevil Dolmacı, Tolga Gümüşay, ÇiğdemGündeş, Funda Özlem Şeran and Masalcı Anne await visitors to share their experiences by several different activities.

iSF continues until 16 July 2017. This project is the collaboration of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), Istanbul Culture Co. (KÜLTÜR A.Ş.), Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) and Turkish Federation of Shopping Centres and Retailers (TAMPF). It is also supported by Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Governorship of Istanbul, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
