Langkawi, the 99 islands under the sun, holds on to its reputation as the destination of choice for tourists around the world.

Kuala Lumpur, 25th October – The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) recently met up with ITAKA Poland & DMC Within Earth, to discuss the commencement of chartered flights from Poland to Langkawi in 2024 and hotel partnerships. The discussion, which was initiated by LADA at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, is taking fruition very quickly along with partners such as Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) to cement these plans further.

Langkawi, the pristine archipelago of Malaysia known for its natural beauty and captivating landscapes, is set to become a sought-after destination for Polish tourists with the introduction of chartered flights from Poland in 2024. This new chartered air connectivity will commence with flights from Warsaw to Langkawi, marking the beginning of an exciting venture between Poland and Langkawi. These direct flights will offer Polish travellers’ easy access to Langkawi’s picturesque scenery, stunning beaches, and a wealth of exciting experiences. Beyond Warsaw, there are plans underway to expand the chartered flight network to travellers from various cities in Poland with convenient access to Langkawi’s splendours.

This new and direct flight route is a significant milestone and development for Langkawi as it opens up the island to a new and growing market of tourists from Poland. In 2022, a total of 14.12 million* outbound Polish travellers were recorded and this number is expected to grow in the coming years. LADA is optimistic and confident that this will continue to boost tourism as authorities are working closely to ensure a smooth process for flights and hotel bookings.

In 2023, Langkawi has already welcomed an impressive 1.3 million visitors, a testament to its growing popularity as a global tourist destination. This significant influx of visitors demonstrates Langkawi’s enduring appeal and highlights its position as a preferred choice for travellers. As we move forward, Langkawi anticipates continued growth in tourist arrivals, further solidifying its reputation as a top-tier destination. In 2024, LADA and industry partners will travel to Poland to meet with ITAKA Poland & DMC Within Earth to discuss and strengthen the partnership agreement.

The Dream Forest, Malaysia’s first immersive night attraction, promises a mesmerizing experience under the stars, showcasing the island’s natural beauty and mystical allure. Additionally, Langkawi’s visitors can explore the enchanting Kilim Geoforest Park or embark on the Kubang Badak Bio Geo Trail, further enhancing their connection with the island’s biodiversity and geological wonders.

With the forthcoming chartered flight from Poland on the horizon, LADA anticipates another resounding success, akin to the more recent partnership with Batik Air’s chartered flights direct from Chengdu, China which brought a total of 1,800 passengers within the month of July.
