Le Corbusier, born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret in 1887, is celebrated as one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. Now, at UR-MU’s Project Room on Level 4, visitors can immerse themselves in Le Corbusier: A Travelling Exhibition, a showcase of models meticulously crafted to represent Le Corbusier’s iconic works. This exhibition, presented by RT+Q Architects of Singapore and endorsed by the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris, provides a unique glimpse into the mind of a visionary whose ideas reshaped modern architecture. The exhibition will run for a limited time, from 10th November 2024 until 29th December 2024.
The models displayed are part of a private collection created as an educational tradition by RT+Q’s interns. Each piece highlights Le Corbusier’s groundbreaking concepts, like the Five Points of Architecture, which introduced elements such as pilotis, open floor plans, and roof gardens. His revolutionary works, such as Villa Savoye (1931) and Unité d’Habitation (1952), continue to inspire contemporary architects and urban designers worldwide.
This exhibition is non-commercial and aims solely to educate and inspire, offering insights into Le Corbusier’s philosophies and his contribution to modern architecture. Beyond his architectural accomplishments, Le Corbusier was also a painter, sculptor, and furniture designer, whose Purism movement and modular design principles continue to shape architectural discourse.
