The evening commences with a dish inspired by the myth of Puteri Santubong and Puteri Sejinjang, evoking the mystique and allure of ancient flavours reminiscent of Kisah Itik Bertelur Emas, featuring sumptuous duck eggs in masak lemak gravy and duck bergedil with curried mayo. Each course is a tribute to the stories that have woven themselves into the fabric of Malaysian culture.

Imagine a forest bounty transformed into a dish of elegance and depth. Inspired by Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup, each bite balances the earthy freshness of the urap with the luxurious richness of the brandade and the delicate brininess of the caviar. Kisah Tiga Ekor Kambing features lamb prepared in various ways: grilled to perfection, transformed into tender lamb jerky, and paired with the unique bitterness of leaf greens.

A traditional feast brought to life with grilled stuffed fish, paired with petai and nasi bario ulam, Badang is a tribute to Malaysia’s vibrant flavors, offering a taste of its cultural heritage through each perfectly grilled bite and fragrant side. The culmination of this culinary odyssey arrives with a dessert inspired by Lagenda Pisang Raja Udang, a harmonious blend of caramelised banana chocolate ganache and banana ice cream, leaving diners with a sweet, nostalgic memory.

As I savour each beautifully crafted dish, I’m reminded of my childhood, when my mother would tell me these enchanting tales just before bed. I used to wonder about the magic of the food that could inspire such love and devotion. That night, each bite is an evocative reminder of those stories, touching my heart in a way I hadn’t anticipated. It’s as though the little six-year-old me, full of wonder and curiosity, is still inside me, immersed in the same culinary journey. This dinner doesn’t just satisfy my hunger; it connects me to cherished memories and the timeless stories that have shaped my life, which I am sure would affect you too in a nostalgically positive way…
