Since swapping stilettos for sneakers post-ACL surgery, I’ve always been on the lookout for shoes that are kinder to my knees. The checklist is long: must be comfortable, minimal stress to the knees, perfect for long walks (because, you know, that is a big part of a travel writer’s life), but also cute enough to keep the #FitCheck on point. I mean, I’m just a girl, standing in front of the world, asking for a cute pair of kicks that won’t destroy my knees. Fortunately, Timberland’s Motion Access range ticks all the right boxes.
Available in Low, Low Waterproof, and Mid Waterproof options for both men and women, I recently had the pleasure of testing the Motion Access Low Lace-Up Sneakers. And let me tell you — I think I’m in love. From city walks to light hiking trails, these beauties proved they could carry you all day long.
First, let’s talk about colours. The women’s Motion Access Low Lace-Up Sneaker comes in two options: the understated ‘natural knit’ that I imagine would pair oh-so well with an all-white ensemble; and the playful ‘natural knit with med blue’ for those who like a pop of colour during their stride. The men’s options don’t disappoint as well, with the likes of ‘wheat knit’ (black and orange), ‘medium grey knit with orange’, and ‘light taupe knit’ — a colour for every style.
But these sneakers are about more than just looking good. The TimberCush™ comfort system lived up to its name when I tested it, giving me ample arch support and hence noticeably less sore after a full day of walking. Add in the REBOTL™ breathable lining, and you’ve got a pair of shoes that are well-ventilated and odour-free, especially in the tropical climate like Malaysia’s.
That being said, here’s why I truly adore about my pair of Timberland sneakers: their versatility, which allows me to transition effortlessly from city to nature walk without much fuss. I teamed up with several other fellow #TeamTimbs adventurers and put the Motion Access Low to the test on the undulating trails of Taman Eko Rimba in Kuala Lumpur. Thanks to the TimberGrip™ outsoles, the shoes kept me steady and nimble on uneven terrain. They also stayed remarkably clean with no unsightly mud stains after the hike.
For those who love a full-on adventure ensemble, Timberland’s also got you covered with the company’s other releases, from the Motion Scramble and Motion 6 Hiking Boot for those extra rugged days, along with apparel like the Caps Ridge Waterproof Motion Jacket and Polartec® Mix Media Full-Zip Fleece pieces that offer ultimate durability and allow maximum freedom of movement.
So, if you were on the hunt for a sturdy, stylish, and knee-friendly pair of shoes that can handle everything from café hopping to conquering light nature trails, Timberland’s Motion Access range might just be your new travel best friend.
