MGTO Promotes MACAU as Cultural Tourism Destinations in MATTA Fair

March 15, Kuala Lumpur – The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) participates in the MATTA Travel Fair, held at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur from March 16-18, 2012 promoting Macau as a cultural tourism destination.Looking at a long term objective of developing Macau as a world center of tourism and leisure, MGTO took this opportunity to showcase Macau as a unique holiday destination for families, couples and groups of friends.

Macau, being a unique blend of Eastern and Western culture, complete with a mix of old and new is always ready to offer travelers personalized experiences with its many exciting event festivals throughout the year.The main highlights are the exciting events and festivals in the coming months : 23rd Macau Arts Festival May 1 to June 6, 2012 (Tentative Dates)

The Macau Arts Festival brings together theatre, dance, music, circus, multimedia and visual arts in a cornucopia of artistic events and occasions. With a mix of local, regional and international performers will present Cantonese Opera, Western classical music, Chinese music and drama, Macanese drama, and a host of exciting artistic experiences for enthusiastic multicultural audiences throughout the month. Various performances will be hosted by Macau’s UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites such as Dom Pedro V Theatre and Lou Kau Mansion, adding an atmospheric and poetic dimension that is uniquely Macau.
2012 Macau International Dragon Boat Races June 16-17, 23, 2012This annual event of old Chinese festival is to commemorate the heroic poet Wat Yuen who protested against corruption by drowning himself. Today all celebrations are concentrated on the famous Dragon Boat Races, which in Macau takes place on the Nam Van Lake. Many local teams and foreign teams take part in this colourful event.

In the year 2011, MGTO launched new theme, ‘Touching Moments, Experience Macau’ and promote Macau tourism with new slogan – Surprising Moments, Tasteful Moments, Enchanting Moments and Fascinating Moments to highlight Macau’s multi-faceted tourism products. MGTO also continued to diversify and introduce new products with great value, positioning Macau as truly diverse and multi-dimensional destinations.
For year 2012, MGTO will continue to host Media and Agents familiarization trips and to work closely with Amigos, airlines partners and travel trade to diversify and to further promote regional tourism within the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region in new and creative ways in line with the promotional theme. At the same time, MGTO will initiate an array of promotional activities including product presentations and luncheon, road show, industry support in promoting Macau as top of mind destinations.

For MICE industry, MGTO has extended the ‘Strategic MICE Market Stimulation Program’ with Macau as a truly unique world-class MICE destination with its state-of-the-art MICE facilities, themed hotels, variety of entertainment and great cuisine.
During the MATTA Fair event (booth no 1254-1257 & 1272-1275 – Hall 1), MGTO will be giving away lucky draw prizes with the purchase any Macau holiday package of at least two night’s stay throughout the duration of the fair.
