Orient Thai Looks To Travel Agency Channel For Growth; Selects Amadeus

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 3 November 2015: Orient Thai Airlines (Orient Thai) has selected Amadeus as their first global distribution system (GDS) partner as it seeks to expand its business in the region. With Amadeus, Orient Thai will now distribute its fares, schedules and availability through the widest network of global travel agents.

The airline expects to increase its fleet size to 60 within 5 years, and plans to transport 5 million passengers in the next 3 years. New routes will soon be added between Bangkok and Singapore, Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Orient Thai currently operates routes between Bangkok and Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an, Nanning, Changsha, Nanchang and Hong Kong, and between Phuket and Nanning, Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi’an. The airline carried 610,000 passengers in 2014.Today, over 70 low-cost and hybrid carriers are bookable in the Amadeus system while over 80% of Amadeus bookings worldwide are made on airlines with which Amadeus has a content agreement.
