KUALA LUMPUR, 6 April 2012 — National Visual Arts Gallery (NVAG) proudly present an Art Exhibition “Pertarungan Amron Omar” which was officiated by Tun Daim Zainuddin today.“PERTARUNGAN” (define as a match) is a first individual exhibition of the artist Amron Omar. It’s a personal battle that find question and answers in a long process.This exhibition displays over 150 works selected from the series “Pertarungan“, comprising works of oil paint on canvas, works on paper and board as well as 608 pieces of art works on tissue sketches.
The artworks of Amron Omar, mostly stemming from the Malay tradition, especially from the world of martial arts, has created a phenomenon that is capable of circumstances which shows the spirit and character ‘kedirian‘ by Malay / Muslim community in the local context.Besides his works has intrinsically describe the nature side of the traditional Malay culture into the mainstream culture of life.According to Director General of NVAG, Dato’ Mohd Yusof Ahmad in his speech, “The presence of works by Amron Omar also managed to give the local inspire (East) towards mind, although his work is still within the framework of formation of the West. A harmonious union between the East and West, have successfully blended in such a wise, mature and impressive.”
The opening ceremony was followed by a ‘gendang silat’ performances in front of the gallery to show the uniqueness of Malay martial arts as well as translate the the battle of Amron Omar in his works.For unique dining experience into this creativity of art, people must come and see the Art Exhibition “Pertarungan Amron Omar” at the Gallery 3A & 3B, National Visual Arts Gallery. The exhibition was opened from 15 February until 27 August 2012, from 10.00 am to 6:00 pm.
