Pocotee & Friends Spreads Chinese New Year Joy at Paradigm Mall

Petaling Jaya, 16 January 2017 – Shoppers and visitors of Paradigm Mall will get a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of quirky, charming and fun-filled characters during Chinese New Year as Pocotee & Friends will be leading the mall’s festivities this year.

Pocotee & Friends is a series of cheerful yet mischievous cartoon characters created by renowned Malaysian artist, Pocotee Loh. These characters have become beloved icons in the comic and digital world, with an ever-growing fan base not only in Malaysia but throughout Asia as well.

The collaboration between Paradigm Mall and Pocotee & Friends is the first and largest of its kind for a shopping mall in terms of size and scale.

Pocotee Loh, Tan Boon Leong, Centre Manager of Paradigm Mall PJ and Vincent Chong, General Manager of WCT Malls Management Sdn Bhd, spearheaded the launch of Paradigm Mall’s Chinese New Year 2017 Celebrations titled “HapiChick”. Happy Together” today. The event also saw the introduction of a new character, HapiChick, which was specially created by Loh in conjunction with the upcoming Year of the Rooster.

During the launching ceremony, Vincent Chong said, “Paradigm Mall PJ is constantly in search of innovative ways to delight and excite our shoppers. For this Chinese New Year, we are really happy to have found a distinctive and wonderful way to spread the Chinese New Year joy through Pocotee & Friends.”

Paradigm Mall PJ’s Chinese New Year 2017 Celebrations starts from now until 5 February 2017. The mall’s Upper Atrium will be the center of attraction with a hard-to-miss 1.2 metre tall sculpture of Pocotee, who will be featured along with her friends, DIno Dino, Jiu, Please J and HapiChick. This location is also where visitors and fans will be able to meet Pocotee mascot on selected dates.

Shoppers and fans of these characters will also be able to get their own caricature drawn by Pocotee Loh herself on certain dates (limited slots are available). Furthermore, children can also look forward to make their mealtime more fun with ‘color-your-own’ Pocotee Placemat by participating in the workshop on selected weekends.

Sharing the joy with other

In the spirit of sharing and caring, Pocotee & Friends will also be initiating a charity sale in collaboration with World Vision Malaysia. The HapiChick pluah toy designed by Pocotee will be available for sale with limited stocks available daily at the Pocotee & Friends booth located at Upper Atrium during the festive season. Enchoing this goodwill gesture, the launch ceremony of Paradigm Malls’s Chinese New Year 2017 Celebrations also saw a total of 20 elderly residents from Rumah Charis treated to a day of fun at the mall. In addition to getting a VIP treatment from Pocotee & Friends, the elderly participants were also entertained by a traditional face-changing performance followed by lion dance performance.

“Pocotee & Friends appeal to everyone, from the young at heart. We took this opportunity to do our part in the community by sharing the fun and festivities of this celebration with everyone.” Chong concluded.

Paradigm Mall PJ has also prepared a myriad of exciting activities and promotions during the Chinese New Year festivities. Shoppers can take part in the Chinese New Year Golden Egg Hunt to win attractive prizes worth a total of RM6,000 from Tomei by spending a minimum of RM88 in a maximum of two receipts.
