Soft Launch of Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2016
The Malaysia International Shoe Festival (MISF) 2016 is back with its 7th edition and it kicked off with a soft launch on 9th April 2016 (Saturday), from 2pm – 4pm at the main entrance of Sungei Wang, Kuala Lumpur.
Special Guest of Honour, YBhg. Datuk Rashidi Bin Hasbullah, Deputy Secretary General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia flagged off a giant stiletto Shoe Car with Mr. Tony Ting, President of Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association, amidst the delightful reactions by the crowd. The Shoe Car has been a delight to the crowds in the previous years, and again it set off roaming Kuala Lumpur, equipped with exciting quizzes and lots of giveaways to promote the Festival.
“Malaysia is increasingly recognized for being a leader in the ASEAN region with its high fashion footwear and export of international fashion wares. It is expected to draw more than 30,000 local and international shoe enthusiasts. Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia certainly expects more visitors coming to Malaysia for MISF 2016, since visas are now free for Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia,” said Datuk Rashidi during the soft launch.
Afashion show began the celebration of the soft launch, showcasing thelatest shoe collections from this year’s exhibitors. Also on display were past year’s creative shoes, whichwere designed by participants in the Malaysia Footwear Design Competition.
The Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2016 is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and organized by The Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association (MFMA).
The festival will take place at Hall 4, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur on 29th April 2016 for traders and public, and is open to the public on 30th April to 1st May 2016 (10:30am to 8:30pm).
It is also timely as Tourism Malaysia has recently launched the Malaysia National Sales shopping campaign that offers shoppers to enjoy special deals, huge discounts, in-store surprises, redemptions and many more.
In keeping with MISF 2016’s theme “Sole of the Nation: A Colorful World of Shoes”, this seventh edition festival will see local and international brands including Fiorucci, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Larrie, Ecco, Lanbaharin, Brooks, Christy Ng, Fipper, Asadi and many more, participating at Hall 4, PWTC, Kuala Lumpur from 29th April to 1st May.
A special highlight isthe showcase of International Sneakers Collection that will excite shoe enthusiasts with limited edition Air Jordan Nike shoes,adidas NMD, adidasYeezy, adidas Tubular ‘Doom’, Nike Airforce, Puma x Rihanna ‘Creepers’, Airmax and ultramoire.

- Showcase of Innovative and Creative Shoe Designs

Shoe design competitions will also be held for the new generation of up-and-coming shoe designers while providing the youths a chance to showcase their creativity.
Junior Master Painter
Open to children who are 3 – 6 years of age, each contestant will be given a blank slipper to color, with basic paint materials. It will be a fun way to reveal children’s hidden talents, while enabling them to have a wonderful time!
Step Into Colour
College students aged 18 and above are welcomed to participate and compete in designing a blank white slipper, in whichever style theyenvision. A great opportunity for students to explore their inner creativity, and create the best designer slipper!
