The Sanchaya: World-Class Wellness at Bintans Leading Resort

The Sanchaya strengthens its wellness offerings for summer 2018

Singapore – Already a leader in luxury hospitality, The Sanchaya has bolstered its wellness program ahead of the summer season with a new Spa Manager, organic housemade scrubs, and expert fitness residency. Situated on the white sandy shores of Bintan island, less than an hour from Singapore, The Sanchaya is a stunningly tranquil property, ideally positioned to soothe and rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.

Guests of The Sanchaya can spend time relaxing in the Indonesian-influenced spa, which offers two treatment rooms and outdoor cabanas. Newly appointed Spa Manager, Ria Cantle, is elevating the wellness offering at the estate, having already worked closely with the resort’s onsite chef to create a fresh menu of organic scrubs, incorporating products unique to the Indonesian archipelago. Highlights of the menu include the Javanese Body Scrub, which uses paste of rice powder, Turmeric and Jasmine to brighten, purify and soften the skin, reducing signs of ageing and a Ylang Ylang and Green Tea Salt Scrub.

Having started her career as an Auxiliary Nurse in the UK, Ria followed her true passion for wellness to Northern India, where she refined her practice alongside industry experts at Ananda in the Himalayas. Since then, Ria has gained international experience in some of the world’s leading hotels, specialising in Deep Tissue Massage, Reiki Healing and Crystal Healing. At the helm of The Sanchaya’s luxurious spa, Ria leads an expert team to offer a range of massages, including The Sanchaya Signature – which uses Java volcanic warm stones and a fusion of Asian-Indonesian techniques to melt away tension and promote deep relaxation. Also on offer are Oxygen facials and The Kawasaki Way Treatments.

Artur Zolkiewicz

Boosting the ongoing wellness programing at the estate, The Sanchaya will play host to visiting experts, who will spend time helping guests work towards their health and wellness goals. First in the series is f i t n e s s a r t z founder, Artur Zolkiewicz. With an elite clientele including A-list celebrities, Artur will be at the estate from 13th – 23rd August, during which time he will host morning and afternoon classes on the exclusive estate, in addition to personal training and Q&A sessions to address guest’s specific wellness goals.

High-intensity morning classes are designed to leave participants feeling energised, and will use a series of stretches and cardio exercises to target the whole body, whilst afternoon classes will place a higher focus on stretching to revitalise weary body parts. These classes will also feature breathing techniques designed to relax the body, alongside controlled articular rotations to help guests assess their bodies and spot potential imbalances and dysfunctions. Zolkiewicz’s fitness schedule will be complemented by a nutritious menu of post-workout breakfasts and vegan pea protein powder smoothies.

Having graced the front pages of health and fitness magazines in the United Kingdom, Zolkiewicz is determined to clear any misconceptions held about fitness and training by tailoring exercises to each customer. He said, “With so much conflicting information out there about what’s good and not good for your health, it’s understandably hard for people to know the truth about what’s healthful. I hope to answer any fitness-related questions the guests may have as well as provide tips and advice on creating new yet sustainable habits and routines, which can be maintained as part of an ongoing lifestyle choice following their time at The Sanchaya.” Classes will be available for hotel guests only.

Zolkiewicz’s time at The Sanchaya is a highlight of the hotel’s ongoing programme of visiting specialists, which has also included artists in residence, chamber music performances and a series of wine dinners hosted by French winemakers. A noteworthy more permanent expert at the estate is resident yoga instructor, Imron, who guides guests through a selection of practices during the complimentary morning yoga sessions at the Yoga Pavilion, or during private sessions, which can be organised on request.

The property is committed to offering the best to their guests, and compliments its stunning design and location with a range of gurus, who are onsite both permanently and temporarily to boost the overall guest experience.
