WorldVentures Introduces Wellness Focused DreamTrip to Malaysia
Malaysia’s wellness tourism economy predicted to grow due to positive industry trends
Kuala Lumpur – International lifestyle and travel membership company WorldVentures, which in Malaysia is wholly-owned by WV Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd, held their very first DreamBody DreamTrip in Malaysia recently at the luxurious The Chateau Spa & Organic Wellness Resort in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.
As an exclusive lifestyle and travel membership club, WorldVentures offers attractive holiday packages with unique and customisable experiences at members’ only prices. Members can view all available DreamTrips, their itineraries and prices after paying a one-time registration fee and a monthly subscription.
DreamBody DreamTrips are the latest variety of holiday packages in WorldVentures’ repertoire. - Morning yoga session
According to the Global Wellness Institute, as of January 2017, wellness tourism is the fastest growing form of travel today with an estimated value of US$563 billion. Defined as “travel associated with the pursuit of maintaining or enhancing one’s personal wellbeing”, wellness tourism is currently pursued mostly by domestic tourists engaging in short-haul and weekend trips.
However, international wellness tourism is quickly gaining traction and surpassed domestic growth between the years 2013 and 2015. With regards to destinations, the Asia-Pacific region, especially emerging markets such as Malaysia, rank very high in popularity among wellness tourists. In their 2017 Global Wellness Economy Monitor report, the Global Wellness Institute listed Malaysia as one of the top 10 favourite destinations for wellness tourists, with US$3118.9 spent on wellness trips to Malaysia in 2015 alone.
Malaysia’s inaugural DreamBody DreamTrip took a small group of local and international members on a private vacation at The Chateau – an award-winning resort surrounded by lush rainforest in the Berjaya Hills. According to Michael Ang, General Manager for WV Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd, today’s DreamBody DreamTrip is merely the first of many the travel club is planning to organise in Malaysia.
“Malaysia is exceptionally blessed with many beautiful beaches, islands and highland retreats. Wellness-themed travel is trending as more and more people are seeking destinations that offer massages and fitness activities when they plan their trip. As a travel club, we are well placed to assist the Malaysian tourism industry by stimulating visitor numbers to our local resorts,” he said.
“Since establishing our corporate presence in Kuala Lumpur a little over a year ago, we have successfully opened up new avenues for tourism with our local travel and accommodation partners. I am pleased to say that, of the nearly 100 DreamTrips we have organised in Malaysia over the past year, almost all were attended by our international members. With the introduction of DreamBody DreamTrips, we hope to increase this number further and position Malaysia as a key destination globally for health and wellness travel,” he added.
DreamBody DreamTrips have already been launched in other countries and received favourable receptions from members. As a compliment to DreamBody DreamTrips, WorldVentures also works with local F&B, health and wellness partners via the DreamTrips Local brand. By purchasing products and services from WorldVentures’ local partners, members can earn points which can be redeemed for additional perks when purchasing future DreamTrips.
