Batman has been called by many names before. The Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight and even a vigilante by Gotham Police Department. Whatever name fans used to call him, Batman is the hero that resonates with humans more than the other DC superheroes. The fact that he is flesh and bones and lack superpowers made his efforts in saving the world even more impactful to us. For fans of Batman, it is time we pay our mortal hero the respect he deserves by celebrating his 80th anniversary at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting from 10th May to 10th July 2019. Here are the list of things fans can enjoy to grandly celebrate the Dark Knight atop the Titiwangsa mountain range.
Even Batman needs a little break after cleaning up the mess left behind by criminals at the streets of Gotham. Fans can have their own break at the DC-themed Superhero Cafe! Pay your respects to the other members of the Justice League upon entering the cafe with life-sized statues of Wonder Woman and Superman. Every inch of the cafe is customised with superhero logos, even the cutleries! Enjoy your food served in interesting themed boxes while basking the view of miniatures and superheroes toys.
2.DC Comics Superhero Merchandise Store
How can anyone celebrate the anniversary of the Dark Knight without bringing home DC merchandise? Located right next to the DC Superhero Cafe is the DC Superhero Merchandise store, a haven for merchandise shoppers! Don’t let the statue of criminal mastermind, the Joker, scare you away at the entry. The store has a large selection of t-shirts, hoodies, hats, plush toys and more for fans to commemorate the Caped Crusader’s 80th anniversary.
3.Ksatria Kelawar (Bat Warrior) Shadow Puppet (Wayang Kulit)
Now, this is the highlight of the celebration! Who would have ever thought the Batman can be made into shadow puppet play! The five Batman puppets definitely piqued everyone’s interest. The creator of Ksatria Kelawar, Mr. Tintoy who is also the founder of Fusion Wayang Kulit, fused traditional shadow puppets with Batman combat suits. Notice that the Batman Animated Series shadow puppet is holding a kerambit (traditional short curved knife) while still adorning his trademark black cape! Fusion Wayang Kulit also created a number of shadow puppets based on blockbuster movies like Star Wars, Wonder Woman and even world’s favourite hobbit-like-singer, Ed Sheeran!
Doesn’t matter whether you prefer Ben Affleck or Christian Bale as The Bat, fans must take this opportunity to witness Batman suits in different eras! Bring a selfie stick with you too because the Batman exhibit features the Batmobile from the 1989 Tim Burton-directed film and the Batmobile from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016!
