A trusty action camera is definitely a necessity for those who are the adventurous type or travel solo. And one such camera that must be had is the Sony HDR-AS50 Action Cam, the camera that meet the demands of the adventurous and active lifestyle.

Equipped with 11.1 megapixel black-illuminated CMOS sensor paired with ZEISS® Tessar lens, this dust-proof camera captures stunning high definition resolution images and videos. Its advanced SteadyShotTM feature provides stable shooting when using hands or attaching it to an aerial drone.

HDR-AS50 offers smooth zooming up to three times with two angle setting modes (wide and narrow) for perfect field adjustment.  Capturing 8MP still images, HDR-AS50 also comes with 50Mbps high bitrate and 120p/100p high frame rate recording for remarkable slow motion footage, including the capabilities of 4K time-lapse.

Interestingly, the wonderfully designed buttons on Sony’s latest action cam enables the user to control them using smartphones and tablets via the PlayMemories Mobile app (compatible with Android and iOs devices). The on/off button responds quickly (less than one second), thus eliminating the risk of missing moments on images or videos.

Talking about accessories, HDR-AS50 comes loaded with more than 15 items. For underwater use, the housing for HDR-AS50 allows footages to be captured up to 60 metres under water, with the coldest temperature at minus 10° Centigrade. Moreover, the camera is also tested for shock-proof by being able to withstand the drop from as high as 1.5 metres to the ground. Its live-view remote function, which can be attached to the wrist, proves amazingly handy because the user is able to change settings or view images and footages captured on the wrist straight away without directly manipulating the camera.

Sony HDR-AS50 Action Cam is priced at RM1,499 and available in Malaysia, Sony Stores & selected Sony Centres. Full technical product specifications for the HDR-AS50 can be found at
