Holidaymakers in Malaysia who have been waiting to travel again will be delighted as Club Med, the pioneer of premium all-inclusive holidays, announces that its Club Med Cherating resort will re-open on 28 July 2020. Club Med’s first resort in Asia will resume operations with the launch of its ‘Safe Together’ guest assurance program developed with Ecolab, a global leader in water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services.

Under the Safe Together program, a series of heightened safety and hygiene protocols aligned with guidelines from global and local health authorities will be implemented at all resorts, reassuring guests of clean and safe environments allowing them to visit with confidence.

Safe Together: Safety and Hygiene Measures in a New Normal.

The Safe Together program’s enhanced hygiene measures will be communicated throughout the resort; from arrival and reception, public areas and rooms, dining and resort activities, to kids facilities, entertainment, and staff operations. Resort guests can enjoy their holiday with ease as all activities and facilities have been adapted to suit the current climate while still adhering to safety standards such as: frequent sanitisation using Ecolab’s disinfecting agents and procedures; social distancing; and precautionary practices such as filling up of health declaration forms and temperature checks.

Club Med Consumer Travel Survey

The news of Club Med Cherating’s re-opening comes at an opportune time, following the recent restarting of domestic travel. A recent online Consumer Travel Survey conducted by Club Med on what Malaysians expect of their next holiday revealed interesting insights regarding travel. With more than 3000 respondents weighing-in, the results of the survey garnered:

  • A majority of respondents (83%) are looking at a beachside or countryside getaway for their next holiday.
  • The most important factor when considering a holiday destination for Malaysians is hygiene and cleanliness (71%), followed by competitively priced packages ( 48%), and availability of restaurants and bar options (35%).
  • Most respondents ( 70%) are likely to make a travel reservation if the terms and conditions allows flexibility for change and cancellations without penalty.

The Consumer Travel Survey was conducted in order for Club Med to better understand the views of local holidaymakers in a post-pandemic world, allowing them to deliver increasingly transformative and unforgettable holiday experiences to resort guests.
