Johor Bahru, 24 March 2016Demi Johor DUA – a festival that combines land (Darat), air (Udara) dan water (Air) extreme sports – is set to be held from 25th to  27th March 2016 at Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, Johor. The festival will also be featuring traditional games, educational exhibition and retail lots for public to shop.

Under the royal patronage of YAM Tunku Idris Iskandar Ibni Sultan Iskandar, Tunku Temenggong Johor, the objective of the festival is to unite Johoreans, including fellow Malaysians and foreigners, through sports. The festival also serves as a platform to highlight Johor’s development in extreme sports, allowing the state to garner achievements in motorsports, recreation aviation and water sports.

What makes Demi Johor DUA unique is the fact that the festival invites the members of the public to not just become spectators but also participants in selected programmes such as hot air balloon ride, roller-blading, photography contests and nostalgic traditional games. Members of the public should take note that not all programmes showcased during the festival can be participated due to safety reasons.The proceeds collected from the sales of hot air balloon tickets, mineral water, Demi Johor DUA souvenirs and photo booths are channelled to Tunku Laksmana Johor Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organisation that changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults and their loved ones who are impacted by cancer.

In conjunction with Demi Johor DUA, several concurrent events are also taking place such as ‘End Polio Ride’ organised by Rotary District 3310 and Rotary International involving cyclists traversing 500 km passing through towns and cities in the south of Peninsular Malaysia to raise awareness and funds toward polio eradication. Another one is ‘Run for Hope’ on 27 March 2016 at 7:00 a.m., organised by Johor Bahru Sentral Rotary Club and Excelsior International School.

Several organisations are also involved in the festival to give back to the community such as Johor Empowerment & Intellectual Women Association (JEIWA) that dispenses women-related items like blouses and homeware for free; Johor Bahru Food Truck Association (JB FTA) that serves up free meals for 700 lucky visitors; and Ambitious Academy that offers to sponsor 20 students from households with the income of RM3,000 or less to work while studying.
