Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) continues to celebrates the beauty of music in December 2012! The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will start-off the month with a musical trip to France and Spain on Saturday, 1 December 12 at 8.30 p.m. and Sunday, 2 December 12 at 3.00 p.m.

The MPO will be led by its Music Director Claus Peter Flor in a programme that comprises works by Ravel and De Falla, featuring guest pianist Alexandre Tharaud. The concerts are slated under the Legacy seriesThe Malaysian Philharmornic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) will present a concert on Friday, 7 December 12 at 8.30 p.m. presenting works by Bach, Elgar and Shostakovich. The showcase will be led by Principal Conductor Kevin Field and feature the talent of cellist Elizabeth Tan.

Next, the MPO will present some Hidden Gems in the form of magnificent Beethoven works on Saturday, 8 December 12 at 8.30 p.m. and Sunday, 9 December 12 at 3.00 p.m. Conductor Claus Peter Flor will continue to weave magic with the MPO together with guest violinist Stefan Jackiw in concerts slated under the Beethoven Symphonies series.

A chamber concert by the MPO ensemble follows suit on Tuesday, 11 December 12 at 6.30 p.m. where the group will perform works by Beethoven and Schumann.

This will be followed by MPO’s Discovery concerts scheduled on Saturday, 15 December 12 at 8.30 p.m. and Sunday, 16 December 12 at 3.00 p.m. Themed Treasures of French Opera, the MPO will be conducted by Laurent Campellone to perform works by Massenet and Bizet. The concerts will also feature soprano Nathalie Manfrino.
